Disclaimer: I'm the type of person that actually does wait for medics, most of the time.
Yet I think this is a spectacularly bad idea for a few different reasons:
- I skip a revive if I am under the impression that there's no possible way that a medic could safely revive me. If there's 10 enemies around me, I don't want to lure a medic into getting ambushed.
- Respawning may cost a single ticket, but it does allow you to quickly reposition yourself to the most effective location on the map. If I have to wait for a medic to revive me in a location where I can't be all that effective, I am wasting a lot of time that could be spent on capturing objectives.
- You'd just be waiting for an eternity of no medic comes.
- Running halfway across the map is a waste of time, even for a revive.
Instead, I'd suggest a different solution. If a medic who is within 25 meters and has specifically marked you for a revive, the option to skip a revive temporarily is disabled. That way, you're not just waiting for a random medic, but you're waiting for somebody that has consciously chosen to come for you.
You don’t run across the map to revive. Downed players only show at a certain distance and a lot of players pick support for access to smoke grenades. I’ve seen more than enough support players run right past me to get into the fight. The option to skip revive gets you in the fight faster. Reviving gets you in the fight much faster but keep in mind not everyone is a good support player. So no. Don’t change it.
