I understand people argument on this. Though as David Sirland has said. They will not remove it. This was ask many times before launch of the game.
If im not mistaken its cause they don't want weapons to turn into meta. That's why this system was implemented for the weapons.

It's not as bad if every weapon can be upgraded fully.

I like the 100 point cap for weapons. Its forces you to trade off for things you want.
I see you're point. It does make you think on what matters most to you or what you may lose out on depending on your choice on what you want for the weapon.
