TTK/TTD feels wrong

This has been an issue since BF5 and it seems to just persist since then in every battlefield game. 

Idk if they got someone new writing the net-code or what it is but this damage model feels really off. 

Idk if it server/network related or what but it consistently feels like regardless of what gun I choose other than snipers it takes 10-15 hits to get a kill. Mean while, it consistently only takes 3-4 hits for ME to die. Its like the game is suffering from a big load of desync. 

Its annoying. I feel like in most fights I have to hit people 3x as much as they hit me with ASSUALT RIFLES. The numbers don't even make sense. 13 damage a hit but it take 15 shots to get the kill? that math aint **bleep** mathing. 

Wish BF would idk do better in this department. It wasnt such an issue in BF games before now all of a sudden every single game they come out with has this egregious TTK/TTD that feels awful. 

Maybe its a the overly aggressive damage fall off idk. That's another issue honestly. Feels like the guns in this game, again everything but snipers suffers from extreme damage fall off. And all it takes is a few measly meters and your bullets go from bullets to peas that do hardly no damage and all of a sudden you gotta pump an entire magazine into someone to put em down. 

Idk who the **bleep** at EA thought this was a good feeling thing and it needed to be like this. These are GUNS they arent shooting spit balls. So maybe don't neuter the damage to everything beyond 50 meters. Jesus.

  • The whole game feels off, still gonna be playing it but theres a lot i hate that they've done, like the Class based nerfs for example... making guns all handle dif per class... no stand-alone medic class... just a weird medic / ammo support hybrid

    I agree with that. Idk why they chose to make a support/medic hybrid. I guess so they could reserve assault as the CoD like class with the stim that makes you tank damage and run faster type **bleep**. 

    This game looks like BF, plays like CoD, with the TTK of Halo. lol im exaggerating a bit but it sounds good to me lol 

    Honestly if they could just figure out wtf it is they are doing wrong with the TTK/TTD in these games I would be happy enough. 

    BF3 and 4 and BF1 did NOT feel this off. This is something I really started to notice with 5 and on. Something they do differently now is wrong. My guess they got a new guy working the net code. Cause it really seems server or net code related. I think the aggressive damage fall off emphasizes it too. Makes it seem worse than it likely is. Perhaps if they just toned down the damage fall off a bit it would feel much better. But as of now, anything over 50 meters seems to just tank damage. Regardless if I use an SMG, Assault rifle/Carbine or a LMG. The only guns that feel consistent are the snipers. 

    Anything else over 50 meters feels like im shooting frozen peas out of my barrel at it. They tank 8 hits and run off behind cover to heal. It didnt feel this bad during the beta. That's another reason why I think its the net code/servers they are using. Maybe even the tick rate, idk what tick rate this games runs on, I would assume 60 at minimum.

    I do wonder if the tickrate (which is improved over 2042, thankfully) and some amount of the crossplay conversion happening causes some of the desync issues. The mention of BF3, 4, 1 all were same-system-only products. And it wasn't until 2042 [and now 6] that crossplay is default and more mention of it. 5 had the various adjustments to TTK which many people disliked (although I struggle to remember which way it ended up, I didn't play much 5 at all, to be honest).

    I played BF5 for a little while but found the TTK too annoying to deal with so I didn't play it for very long.

    I agree that TTD is the worst of all BF games released, even worse than TTD in the flop BF 2042. TTK seems acceptable to me after the latest updates. I am much more bothered by mandatory cross-play and extreme aim assist for players with controllers. In close combat, the combination of short TTD and an enemy with aim assist is an utterly frustrating experience. Many players have already given up and are waiting to see if anything will change. Whether DICE will understand that this is not CoD, but Battlefield.

  • I generally agree with you. The hit registration, combined with the time-to-death and time-to-kill, feels completely off. However, I should point out that you can’t rely on the damage indicator on the death screen.

    First, it only displays a maximum of five hits. Try getting killed by an incendiary weapon—you’ll see what I mean. (5 x 6 != 100, after all.)

    Second, the indicator is broken and often shows incorrect information—wrong weapons, damage values, or even players. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been killed by a chopper on a map that doesn’t even have choppers.

    I completely agree that TTK, TTD, and hit registration desperately need more attention. Unfortunately, the last update didn’t bring any noticeable improvements.

  • Yep. BF5 was when it started for me, or maybe it's just that BF1 was so excellent and I don't remember it being off in BF4 or before.

    Feels bad in BF6.

    Hint though: Play with cross-play off and it is better. Clearly cross-play adds technical limits and degrades the netcode.

    No wonder EA/DICE don't want to talk about why PC players can't turn it off and why they put you into bot matches if you manage it.
