Urgent temporary fix for team balancing: use Veteran Level averages

Hello,

Right now, Battlefield 6 badly needs some form of team balancing.

Too many matches are completely one-sided, sometimes ending in only 5–10 minutes. That is frustrating for the losing team, but it is also boring for the team that is steamrolling with almost no resistance.

Battlefield is at its best when matches are close, objectives change hands, both teams can fight back, and the result is uncertain until the end.

Until a better and more sophisticated balancing system is developed, there is a very simple emergency solution that could be implemented immediately:

Use the Veteran Levels of all players in the server, calculate the total/average, and distribute those points as evenly as possible between the two teams.

For example, if one team has an average Veteran Level around 100 and the other is around 300–350, the match is already very likely to be heavily unbalanced.

This does not require a complex SBMM system. It is simply about distributing the players who are already in the server more fairly between both sides.

Keep parties and squads together when possible, then balance the remaining players and squads around them.

Of course, Veteran Level is not a perfect measure of skill. But as an urgent temporary solution, until something better is ready, this would already be far better than having almost no visible balancing at all.

This kind of calculation takes seconds. The system already knows every player's level, so calculating both teams' average Veteran Level and swapping a few players or squads to reduce the difference should be extremely straightforward.

Please implement this as a temporary emergency measure while working on a more advanced system.

Even a basic balance based on Veteran Level would immediately improve a huge number of matches.

  • I play in Asia (Japan), so the situation might differ from the region where you play, but I would still like to offer a reply.

I think the balance adjustment system you're proposing is excellent and highly rational. It is undoubtedly one of the best ideas I've seen so far.

However, not just your proposal, but—without exception—almost every suggestion for balancing combat forces shares one major flaw:

    The "join game" feature.

This feature allows players to join a game—and a specific team—already in progress to play alongside friends, but it is absolutely terrible.

In the region where I play, most matches force us to face multiple coordinated squads using both air and ground vehicles; within just two minutes of the match starting, the opposing team is already hovering over our HQ, crushing my teammates like bugs the instant they respawn.

No matter what kind of balance adjustment system is introduced, I can't help but think it's pointless unless the "join game" feature is completely removed or undergoes some sort of modification.

I hope your feedback encourages EA to work on reducing the number of terrible matches.

I agree, and maybe have veteran levels dictate squad leaders as well.

  • It should be by recent K/D Average, not level.

Some people leveled up meding.  Meding often results in low K/D

But with a high level you can still support the team. you dont get a high level by sitting on your buns. we still need medics to keep us alive.

Level is the worst metric you can choose to balance games. This has been said and repeated so many times on this forum, I don't know why people keep coming with the same dumb suggestion. Doesn't the search feature work anymore?
