Vehicle Feedback From an experienced player

Hi everyone,

after spending significant time unlocking  all vehicle attachments (except for AA and IFV), I wanted to share some feedback. I’ve played Battlefield since BFBC2, with thousands of hours across past titles, and I’ve always loved mastering vehicles. Unfortunately, in Battlefield 6, vehicles feel more like set dressing or props, they don’t feel like limited useful assets to your team.

While the infantry gunplay is strong and enjoyable, (other than the bloom issues and arduous time to unlock anything) vehicle gameplay feels unrewarding, overly limited, and often frustrating. Here’s a breakdown of the main issues and some suggestions.

JETS

  • Jet ramming choppers needs to be addressed, this was fixed in previous Battlefield titles.
  • There is no options to select a loadout for jets and transport helo? I’m wondering if it wasn’t finished in time for jets? Or is there no customisation?
  • Please let us select specific jets, like in Battlefield 2042, we could pick which aircraft we want.
  • The afterburner sometimes behaves inconsistently and cuts off randomly on PS5 controllers.
  • The flight vector turn-thrusting mechanic can only really be performed on PC. Consider removing the ability to spam it and instead lock it to an optimal turn speed for fairness.
  • Since BF3, we’ve lost the ability to spot infantry from the air. We used to have guided missile zoom cams and 3D spotting, which added skill and depth. Could we get a personal 3D spotting system for jets and a zoom camera again?
  • The jet cannon feels too inaccurate and weak to effectively engage infantry. Could you improve its accuracy? With how fast jets move now, precision should be higher, not lower.
  • The zoom cannon should zoom in a bit further.
  • You should spawn jets in the air, because other jets just strafe run you taking off for the entire game.
  • Overall, jet gameplay feels stripped of depth. In BF3, mastering the cannon and nailing infantry or vehicle kills felt rewarding, now it’s mostly lock-ons and drop bombs. It feels shallow, and I often leave jet matches feeling like nothing I do matters. I kill other jets, the heli but most the time it’s dead before I turn around… and just spend 20 minutes dropping a few random bombs at stuff I can’t see, or shoot a locked missile at a tank to little effect.. I feel like I’m doing nothing.

 HELICOPTERS

Helicopters currently feel fragile and underpowered. Even small-arms fire wipes them out in seconds. The map design has left almost no room for cover for helicopters, nothing interesting to fly through. Also, when trying to repair at base, getting 1/3rd of your health back every minute isn’t fun, for it to just be stripped away in seconds after leaving spawn. Also most AA can just fire at and hit you hovering in your own spawn trying to heal on certain maps. Also, the repair bay is right where jets take off. I’ve seen jets and helis just smash into each other or jets not being able to take off.

Attack Helicopter

  • Feels slow and clunky, please consider reverting to BF4-style handling.
  • Add an option for other players to spawn into your heli mid-flight (perhaps via commo rose or a hover prompt at base).
  • Rocket ammo is far too limited. Give attack helis more rocket volleys. Currently, a lot of dogfights end with both helis running dry before a kill.
  • Overall, ammo limitations across all vehicles make them feel less fun and less impactful.

Transport Helicopter

The transport heli should be a team-focused tool to deliver troops and support objectives, but right now it’s the weakest vehicle in the game.

Issues and possible solutions:

  1. Small arms shouldn’t damage air vehicles.
  2. Only rockets or explosives should disable a transport heli, not bullets.
  3. Increase durability: it should be able to tank at least two RPG hits and still hobble around. They are also massive hitboxes compared to bf4.
  4. Improve mobility: it feels very sluggish and vulnerable. BF4 did this way better.
  5. The below-radar mechanic seems broken; hovering low should protect against lock-ons. If it is working, transport helos should have a larger ceiling for it to work.
  6. Give the pilot a forward cone auto-spot system only visible for troops in helo, so door gunners can see targets more easily once you spot them.
  7. Allow the pilot’s pinged locations to be visible to all passengers in the helo.

GROUND VEHICLES

Honestly, Battlefield 2042 handled ground vehicles much better. BF6 feels like a big step backward.

  • The missing third “weapons pod” seat is a major loss. It made vehicle squads fun and encouraged teamwork. It also meant if 3 friends were on, we could all play in a vehicle.
  • Tanks feel terrible on both small and large maps: way too slow, too vulnerable, and forced to rely on awkward ammo stations, or engineers repairing that don’t want to be in them.
  • The boost mechanic feels buggy and drains inconsistently, leaving tanks exposed. It’s another bad addition, and I think it should be removed.
  • Ammo stations are frustrating, they take too long to refill, break up gameplay flow, and create constant anxiety about running out. Sometimes it’s faster to just redeploy than wait. I also think this should be removed from the game.
  • Vehicles need better mobility and reliability, the handling in 2042 was a great model.
  • The APS (Active Protection System) doesn’t seem to work consistently and expires too quickly. Locked projectiles still hit even when activated.

MY OVERALL THOUGHTS

i think this is only really scratching the surface of the issues with vehicles, I could add a lot more. Tank shell/ ifv splash damage is very poor, poor defensive loadout options for ground vehicles (just get disabled then die), making a problem them solving it with a “loadout option”, air radar not working, zoom camera on Dpad toggle won’t allow you to switch to 3rd person before leaving zoom.. but I’ll leave it here.

The infantry experience and destruction systems are solid, but the vehicle gameplay, once a hallmark of Battlefield, just feels gutted. Vehicles should be powerful, skill-based tools that shape the flow of a match, not just set dressing or easily swatted nuisances. You have plenty of modes that they are not in, for people that just want gunplay, it’s a shame to see them where they’re at.

Right now, I leave every session I’ve played in them feeling disappointed and frustrated. I truly hope you’ll reconsider the vehicle design philosophy and bring back the depth, fun, and sense of mastery that used to define this franchise.

Thanks for reading, I’m sharing this feedback because I really care about the series and want it to live up to its potential.
