Visibility issues?

I've noticed that when inside of a building and looking outside, the colours outside seem much brighter and washed out, making things difficult to see. Also when outside and looking into buildings, the colours become too dark to see clearly inside. Anyone else noticed lighting like this?

I understand this is probably a realistic effect, but it's not great to look at and deal with.
