What happened to BF franchise?

At this point, I only hope for a BF clone possibly created by Embark Studios in the near future...

BF has never been a simulator of any sort. BF used to have nice, gigantic (by today's standards ofc) vehicular maps and city maps. Right now, five flags on the map and no space for aerial gameplay. BF6 is a disappointment for someone who played or used to play older BFs. Zero fun factor without owning a server, organizing mixes for many players, and playing on nicely balanced maps with different pacing and some strategic depth. 4 studios and at launch, pretty much a miss. I haven`t launched a single player mode yet, and perhaps BF studios should drop it for coop missions with a little bit of storytelling. Dunno, but more could have been squeezed with this franchise.

Because they thought catering to the cod and Fortnite community would bring more players over which obviously failed, but atm most of my games are filled with bots over conquest and breaktyhrough.

I think season 2 will peak with players for maybe a month or so then drop off again.
