I am just wondering what happened.
Some matches spotting is actually broken complete. Just will not spot anything.
It worked fine for a long time. But it stopped working properly and just lately it barely functions at all.
I can point at one vehicle or person. Sometimes it will put a red contact tag in the sky. It is bizarre. Mostly it seems to not work at all as far as I can tell.
Portable designator is wonky. Air target designation works but on ground and naval targets it wants to spot area over the target you aim at.

I was just looking at your profile and noticed you've been part of the Battlefield community for around eight years. That's a long time, which is why I'm a little confused. After eight years, you've seen plenty of Battlefield releases and anniversaries, yet you're still here and still part of the community.
That tells me there must be something about the game that keeps bringing you back, even if there are things you don't like. We all have our frustrations with Battlefield from time to time, but at the end of the day, we're all here because we enjoy the game in one way or another.
Wait, just to be clear: you’re talking about the spot diamond above the head or the ping you can leave for team mates?
Everything seems broken in this game. NOT surprised though, its EA. They ruin EVERYTHING they touch.

BigBoy here. I play all the classes, from Assault to Recon, and I'm experiencing the same issue. For me, the ping either doesn't work at all or it's completely off target from the location I'm trying to mark. It was never like this before, so I'm really hoping the developers can identify the cause and get it fixed soon.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think they modified how close you have to be to the target to actually spot it, you now have to be pretty spot on for it to work. Albeit that only seems to be the case for non-recons, playing recon it feels unchanged.

BigBoy here. Yes, I’m experiencing the same issue too. Sometimes the ping doesn’t register at all, or the marker appears way off from the location I was trying to mark.
I’ve noticed it seems to happen especially when you’re in a vehicle, where marking areas can become very unreliable. Hopefully this can be looked into by the developers.

BigBoy here. I've reported the same issue you're experiencing under the Bug Reports section titled "Ping/Area Marker Issues." Hopefully, the developers can investigate it soon, as it definitely affects gameplay when trying to mark locations accurately.
If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please add your feedback to the bug report as well. The more reports and information the developers receive, the easier it will be for them to identify the cause and understand how widespread the problem is.
