Why is there no Solo mode like 2042 when the AI is updated this much?

I am being serious when I say I've never seen a multiplayer game update and maintain its bots like this. A new mode releases? Bots are updated to play the mode. A new vehicle is released? Bots are updated to drive/pilot them. It got to a point that while they're still bots, compared to launch, these guys are way more decent and better at playing objectives, supporting players and being aggressive. I'm in disbelief all of this is just so they can fill up empty lobbies. I really, really want to see how these guys operate against 32 other bots on max difficulty. The mode was already fun in 2042, carried Battlefield in the slow internet connection days and now I think it would be great to come back. Just saying. Food for thought. If DICE is worried about server costs just make the mode 20-30Hz like 2042.

iLuckyBrad , play casual breakthrough, the bots will do just fine. On the "lame portal stuff" ...agree it is lame. A dedicated PvE solo game is needed though.

I agree with the second paragraph but disagree with the first. My experience with infantry bots has been different. Still, compared to 2042, the bots are much better,. And that game had a Solo mode. I don't see why they don't add it back. The bot XP has already been nerfed to oblivion too.

  • The bots in the game are very poorly built..

Half the time, you will find them staring blankly at a wall, running in circles around a capture point, or completely ignoring you while you shoot them in the back.   The other half of the time, they possess inhuman tracking. Because they are unaffected by visual cover. They will instantly lock onto you and laser you through thick smoke grenades, heavy foliage from 100 meters away with an LMG places where a human player physically could not see you.

This is arguably the most frustrating part of how they are built though, The bots have no concept of vehicle physics or strategy. If an AI jumps into the pilot seat of a fully loaded transport chopper, they will either hover aimlessly out of bounds or immediately fly it directly into a crane. If they get into your tank’s gunner seat, they will either refuse to shoot at obvious targets or constantly blast the main machine gun at the sky, giving your position away to the entire map.

You will often see them clustered together in a corner, vibrating against a piece of geometry because their pathfinding script can't figure out how to step over a small piece of rubble or navigate through a doorway... they are just moving target dummies designed to make the servers look less empty. They ruin stealth, waste vehicles, and fail at basic teamplay.

Soo the fact that they don't work is probably why there is no real Solo mode, only the lame portal stuff.
