Will Squad Order Request Return?

I really miss the squad order request, especially the mechanic where if after a certain time without a squad order the leader is changed. This really helps when playing with randoms to make a squad move together towards the same objectives. I would even suggest having challenges that encourage squad members to follow squad orders.

You could even have a squad vote mechanic if the leader is making poor decisions.

  • It could come back potentially, but I suspect that the suggested order feature is being used instead at the moment. I think I actually prefer it to the request order feature, although that's just me.

  • I hope it comes back and I have no problem with suggested order staying. At the moment a squad leader can still give squad orders however most of the time the leader doesn’t either no about the feature or doesn’t want to use it, which is fair enough. However having the option for a new leader to be given the opportunity within a match would be nice which has been the case in previous battlefields.

  • It's yet another example of how BF has been dumbed down further. Not being able to change squad leader when they aren't being a squad leader is just stupid.

The suggested order AI commander thing is a not anything like a decent replacement. Squads should have autonomy.

Not only that but you'll find if you have a party going it still randomly reassigns the squad leadership each match and doesn't use the party leader even though that is no doubt what your party would prefer (and can override if not).

Just like many other BF6 systems, it's over-simplified, incomplete, buggy and badly designed.

It would help if the game actually told you who was squad leader in the game. If I miss the pre-match screen, it's hard to know who the squad leader is. It should show up in the squad section of the UI next to the minimap.

If you look next to your mini map you can see your squad names and a circle with a number on it next to each squad member. If another person is the squad leader the circle turns to another shape but it’s not that easy to identify at just a glance.

  • No, a million times no. The amount of people in bfv that abused the fact that if you spammed request order, even if the squad leader placed an order, it would make them squad leader so they could take over a squad that was created through a 2 or 3 person party of friends was horrendous. The current system works to actively put forward orders so the arbitrarily designated squad leader (which for some reason isnt the party leader, like wtf lol) doesnt have to have an apm of 600 to stay leader. The amount of times i had squad leader yoinked from me because someone wanted to call in support things with the points while i was actively setting orders to support the team was abysmally high to the point where as soon as a rando requested an order i would kick them from the squad of me and 2 friends.

The current system is great for automatically applying orders on relevant points that you should be concerned about, and the squad orders dont matter nearly as much anyeays because theres no support call ins in bf6, its just points. I understand if you need to do challenges and its frustrating when someone won't apply an order, but following the automatic tactical advice does count as a squad order from what ive seen. This also isnt like, a milsim game. Being squad leader isnt like some massive responsibility. Most people are playing this to chill and play some bf, even if theyre sweating, its a pretty casual thing. Again, i get it, but forcing people to have to conform to a role you want them to be because the algorithm said they were squad leader is kinda lame imo.

It displays as a cross but its hard to differentiate and tell apart imo.

    I disagree.

Battlefield 3 and 4 were amazing with this mechanic and it woukd be super helpful if it was brought back with proper implementation.

I’m sure in BF4 when you give a request order you had to do more than one order request to gain control of the squad order function and it would have a time down on the present squad leader so that as long as the squad leader is giving a fresh request with in that time then they could not have there position taken away to the player that made the request.

At present the automatic order is done by A.i. We already have A.i taking over the music in games & the voice overs/acting and now it’s dictating the flow of the matches.  I’d prefer to bring back squad requests imo.
