Are Console Players Being Pushed Away from Battlefield 6?
Dear DICE Development Team,
I would like to express my disappointment with the decision to reduce controller recoil compensation in Battlefield 6.
Many players enjoy Battlefield 6 on PlayStation and Xbox using a controller. For these players, recoil compensation is an important part of the shooting experience, especially when engaging enemies at medium and long range.
I don't know what you're hoping to achieve. Battlefield 6's Steam player count has already dropped significantly, and with decisions like these, you're only pushing away the remaining players on Xbox and PS5. Meanwhile, other players are already playing Delta Force, and many are waiting for MW4. Instead of bringing players back and making the game more appealing, you keep changing familiar mechanics and making the experience worse for those of us playing with a controller.
Reducing recoil compensation from 11% to 5% may seem like a small numerical adjustment, but it can have a noticeable impact on weapon control, particularly with high-rate-of-fire assault rifles. Combined with the game's fast time-to-kill, this change risks making gunfights more frustrating and less enjoyable for controller players.
What concerns me most is that console players should not feel disadvantaged simply because they prefer playing with a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard. Balancing these input methods is important, but it should not come at the expense of the overall console experience.
I strongly encourage DICE to carefully evaluate community feedback and actual gameplay data following this change. Please consider reverting the adjustment or finding a better balance that preserves fair competition without making recoil control unnecessarily difficult for controller users.
Battlefield has always been about large-scale battles, teamwork, and enjoyable combat. I hope future balance decisions will take the experience of console players into account just as seriously as that of PC players.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I’m sure Activision appreciates everything you’re doing to push players toward MW4
