SUMMARY
On Steam, Battlefield 6 sometimes shows a 512 B “update” that never finishes or reports
“Game Not Released,” preventing launch.
Unchecking two placeholder DLCs in Steam Properties instantly resolves the issue:
• Battlefield Multiplayer Marker
• Battlefield Multiplayer HD Marker
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Battlefield 6 on Steam.
2. Let Steam complete installation.
3. Observe: Steam displays 512 B update pending or “Game Not Released.”
4. In Steam → Library → Battlefield 6 → Manage → Properties → DLC,
uncheck “Battlefield Multiplayer Marker” and “Battlefield Multiplayer HD Marker.”
5. Steam re-validates; game status becomes “Ready to Play.”
EXPECTED RESULT
Game should register as released and ready without user changes to DLC settings.
ACTUAL RESULT
Game stuck in “not released” or endless 512 B update loop until placeholder DLCs are disabled.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Incorrect Steam AppID or release state flags for those two DLC markers
(“unreleased” or “beta-locked”) causing Steam to block the base app from activating.
IMPACT
Prevents players from launching the game even after full download.
WORKAROUND
Uncheck both DLCs; Steam completes validation and game becomes playable.
Please verify release flags for these DLCs in the Steam backend manifest.
