Battlefield REDSEC – Repeated BSOD 0x116 (nvlddmkm.sys) on GTX 1660 Super

Hello EA Support Team,

I'm experiencing repeated system crashes while playing Battlefield REDSEC on my Windows 10 PC.

The game runs smoothly at approximately 60 FPS without noticeable lag or stuttering. However, after around 10–30 minutes of gameplay, my screen suddenly turns black and my entire PC restarts.

Windows Reliability Monitor reports BlueScreen error 0x116 (VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE), and WinDbg identifies nvlddmkm.sys as the NVIDIA driver involved in the crash.

My PC specifications:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super 6GB
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500X
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Motherboard: MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX
  • PSU: Corsair 650W
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit

I have already tried clean-installing NVIDIA drivers, rolling back from version 621.01 to 617.42, disabling all overlays, limiting FPS to 60, lowering graphics settings, clearing the DirectX Shader Cache, and verifying the game files through Steam.

The issue still occurs. Other games run normally without system crashes.

Could you please investigate whether this is a known compatibility issue with Battlefield REDSEC or NVIDIA GTX 16-series graphics cards?

Thank you for your assistance

Please run System File Checker from a command prompt with Admin privileges:

    1. Press the Windows Key on your keyboard, type "cmd", right-click the "Command Prompt" application from the search results, and select "Run as administrator".
    2. When the Windows User Account Control (UAC) prompt appears asking for permission to make changes to your device, click "Yes".
    3. Type or paste the following command into the black Command Prompt window and press Enter:
      sfc /scannow
    4. Keep the Command Prompt window open until the scan completes and displays the final verification summary message.
    5. If the scan reports that it found and successfully repaired corrupt files, restart your PC to allow Windows to finalize the replaced files in locked memory.

If the problem continues after that, please generate a Dxdiag report and post the file here. We can use the info in that file to troubleshoot further.

    Thank you, EA_Barry.

    Hello EA_Barry,

I completed the SFC scan as requested.

Result: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I also checked my DxDiag report and found the following:

    • Multiple LiveKernelEvent 141 entries.
    • A BEX64 crash involving EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe, with exception code 0xC0000409.
    • Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling is enabled.

The system still experiences VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (0x116) crashes when playing Battlefield REDSEC, including with NVIDIA drivers 621.01 and 617.42.

    Other games run normally.

I've attached my DxDiag report. Could you please check whether the EA AntiCheat error or the graphics timeout events could be related to the crashes?

    Thank you for your assistance.
