BF6 CTD saga on 4070 Ti SUPER + MSI board.
TL;DR: CTD city with almost no errors. One time I got a DX12 device hung pop. Minidumps kept pointing at overlays/NVIDIA DLLs and access violations. Tried all the usual stuff, still crashed. Rolled back to GeForce Game Ready 576.88 (Win11, July 1, 2025) and it finally stopped crashing for me. Fingers crossed. I’m holding off on DLSS/Frame Gen for now.
GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.88 | Windows 11 <- Google this or if you are lazy and trust me...

Specs
- CPU: i9-14900K
- GPU: RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
- RAM: 64 GB
- Windows 11
- Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Max WiFi
- Storage: NVMe SSD
- Driver that crashed: 581.42 GRD
- Driver that seems stable: 576.88 GRD
Symptoms
- 99.9% of the time it’s a straight CTD, no message.
- Got this once:
DirectX function 'GetDeviceRemovedReason' failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respond to more commands"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER", Driver: 581.42. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing.
- Minidumps showed access violation 0xC0000005 inside bf6.exe and a bunch of NVIDIA/overlay modules in the stack (shadowplay/steam etc).
What I tried before the rollback
- Disabled everything: DLSS, Frame Gen, Reflex, Boost stuff.
- Killed overlays: Steam overlay, Discord overlay, EA overlay, Xbox Game Bar, RTSS, Overwolf, etc.
- HAGS off, cleared DirectX shader cache, verified files.
- Repaired EA AntiCheat.
- Borderless window, vsync on, FPS cap.
- Tried messing with .dll loads for overlays (renaming). Game either still crashed or refused to launch.
- Was about to update BIOS, but honestly didn’t want to go there yet.
What seems to work
- DDU clean install to GeForce Game Ready 576.88 on Win11. After that, no CTDs so far. Not turning on DLSS/Frame Gen yet because I dont trust it atm. Gonna play a bit before I flip any switches.
Pattern I noticed on EA tech forums
- A lot of folks who crash look like they’re on 4070 class or higher and quite a few on MSI mobos. Could be coincidence, but it’s… a pattern-ish. Idk.
- If you were crashing on 581.42 with a 4070/4080/4090, try 576.88 or even the Studio branch and report back.
- Please include: GPU, driver version, motherboard brand, and whether DLSS/Frame Gen were on.
Hope this helps someone. I’ll update if it starts crashing again or if enabling DLSS/FG re-triggers it.
