Re: BF6 performance and netcode issues

Sneak up on someone who isn’t even looking at you, start shooting first, unload half a clip - only for them to turn around and kill you with what feels like one or two bullets.

Die while already behind cover.

Get one-shotted by a slow rate-of-fire weapon that shouldn’t even kill in one hit.

The list goes on and on. It often feels like I’m moving much slower than my enemies. I assume that to them, I must appear almost static.

This seems to be an issue with hit detection, TTK, or desync (or some cursed combination of all three).

The vast majority of head-on, close-combat engagements are impossible to win. I get melted instantly -within a nanosecond - with zero time to react.

It feels like I’m playing the game on ultra-hard mode while everyone else is on easy. Honestly, it’s like playing against a team stacked with cheaters.

The problem also seems... quite sneaky. I’ve noticed it gets better or worse depending on the connection quality of other players in the match. If everyone has roughly the same ping as me (usually <30 ms), things are somewhat bearable. But as soon as someone with >100 ms joins? Constant one-shot deaths.

And to all the sad people ready with their “skill issue” or “git gud” comments - go outside and touch some grass. I’ve probably been playing Battlefield longer than you’ve been alive so I can tell when the game works well. I’m pretty casual, and I don’t mind losing to players who outsmart me, outmaneuver me, or have better aim. But that’s not what’s happening. It feels like something arbitrarily decides that my bullets just shouldn’t count in certain moments.

Are others seeing this too? Some players seem to be thriving in BF6 with great scores and K/D ratios, so clearly the netcode favors certain setups.

If you’re one of those people and you play on PC - what broadband are you using?

I’m in the UK and on Virgin Media (125 Mbps). Virgin uses DOCSIS, which I’ve read can cause routing issues to game servers in some titles. Could that be part of the problem?
