Can’t use Xbox series X controller

I bought the game last night on PC via EA app, I can’t use my controller at all, in settings it shows a ps5 controller, have I wasted money? Doesn’t matter if I’m wired or wireless the game only recognises keyboard and mouse. Too old for that I prefer controller….. don’t get this issue on call of duty 😆 I played the beta release with controller and worked instantly no trouble no loading via steam input nadda, all this effort for using a controller il request a refund and wait for black ops 7 to release 🤣
