Have you run the 'chkdsk' command in Command Prompt? If not, I would recommend doing so as a first step in the troubleshooting process.

Example syntax: chkdsk C: /F

Various issues can cause a black screen and freeze, such as RAM overflow when sharing with other software, faulty RAM, compatibility issues, graphics card problems, and software conflicts and bugs. These issues can lead to crashes or a complete system freeze, resulting in a black screen. Historically, RAM issues are a notable cause. If the RAM addressing is not functioning properly with active software, including drivers and background processes, it may cause the computer to freeze or display a black screen. On the other hand, it's interesting that I haven't experienced any issues on my PC, despite it having lower-spec hardware than many other BF6 players.

Helpful troubleshooting utilities:

Thank you for the response. I tried the chkdsk method and initially it seemed to fix the problem but towards the end of the match, my computer locked up again. It is so weird to me how the game ran perfectly for me for months, then I started having this issue after the Ice Lock update, but when I finally got a video card driver update, it seemed to fix the issue. About a month or so later, there was another update for drivers, and even before I updated them, it started freezing again. No other games, even more graphic intensive ones seem to cause any issues for me.

Although you’ve updated your driver once, it’s worth testing both the latest and a slightly older stable version. Some users with TUF laptops have reported freezes that improved after rolling back drivers. A clean driver removal using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode, followed by a fresh install (from NVIDIA’s site rather than just ASUS) can help.

Windows & System Drivers

- Make sure Windows Update is fully completed, including optional driver updates.
- Chipset and system drivers sometimes impact game stability, so a clean reinstall there can help.
- If BitLocker is enabled, consider suspending it during driver swaps or BIOS changes to avoid conflicts.
