Crashing to desktop

Only reason I am seeking out with my own post is because I have tried EVERYTHING, from the XMP timing to DISM clean up to the Windows exploit protection, literally everything! The game can crash within minutes to hours, times are random, my system is a Ryzen 5 1600 currently at stock clocks under a Corsair Nautilus AIO,  16GB's of G. Skill DDR4 RAM, currently at stock timings, all packed onto a Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero, I have 2 GPU's the primary used the play the game is a 980Ti 6GB card that is currently at stock frequencies and a 750Ti 2GB card used for my secondary monitor and OBS stuff also at stock frequencies. The game is installed on my 2TB hard drive currently and was playing fine since release till last night with no issues except some slow loading of stuff on some larger maps. Event Viewer doesn't show anything as everything is from issues from over a year ago. Video drivers are up to date and I am currently on Windows 11 and up to date, nothing is overheating and I don't know where else to look as it's now affecting the Campaign though those crashes take longer than they do in Multiplayer. I am also unable to find any conflicting applications, I really don't know where to begin with this, $70 on a game I currently can't play for very long....

    So, heap corruption... :(

That's about as useful as it saying "The app crashed because something went wrong".

I was getting those 0xc0000005 access violations when I had too many firefox tabs open and they were consuming too much virtual memory.

Where are you obtaining the issue for the anticheat? I still have nothing in the Event Viewer.

I've closed pretty much everything to try to figure this out. I don't think my issue is the same.

  • Update:
I just joined a match and crashed after a bit, Event Viewer threw it's first error (kept it open when playing) with the same code (c0000005) for Noise Cancelation through Asus Armory Crate (RGB Effects) going to uninstall it and see how it goes.

I hope that fixed your issue!

In case it's helpful at all, I was able to play a full match (~15 minutes) after doing the following:

    • Disabled XMP
    • Uninstalled then reinstalled BF6 (probably could've just done the anticheat software)
    • Added -bEnableGlimpse 0 launch parameter to Battlefield 6 in Steam
    • Turned off Exploit Settings in Windows for EAanticheatsoftwarelauncher and bf6 .exe programs
    • Ran Steam verification scan on all files
    • Limited FPS to 100 FPS in-game
    • Kept minimal graphical settings in NVIDIA app for BF6

I'll likely have an opportunity to test it for a longer period of time later this week. 🤞

EDIT: I did get the following error in Event Viewer, but the game itself performed fine:

The description for Event ID 1 from source Application cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    EAAntiCheatService
    Failed retrieving service path.

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

It did not, it ran fine last night for about 2 hours until I got off after uninstalling Armory Crate, today I played 3 rounds and crashed on my 4th, same error, XMP profiles don't seem to matter, WMD shows no issues with RAM, Prime95 stress test shows no issues aswell, Memtest86 shows clear too.

  • Update:

Game was running good as I stated till it wasn't after uninstalling ArmoryCrate, I have noticed the game loads a bit faster since the uninstall of ArmoryCrate. Being I had the crash however I decided to start back from the top and discovered Discord overlay was enabled and noticed if it did not overlay on the anticheat splash screen the game would run without issue, if it did overlay on the splash screen the game would crash, I have since disabled Discord overlay as I didn't even know it was auto enabled until I saw it after reading about overlays like NVidia/etc. We are on 2 days of 3 hours in game with no issues so far.
