Dolby Atmos for Headphones not properly detected in BF6

Hello,

I open this thread hoping it will reach the devs teams. It's been recognized that players on reddit that when using Dolby Atmos for Headphones on PC, the game doesn't recognize it properly and seems to revert back to "3D headphones" when trying to use Spatial 3D in Audio Settings.

Most of the time, it's been checked that when the game is launched and when we open the Xbox Game Bar overlay, the Audio interface confirms that "Dolby Atmos is currently in use".
It's been happening as well with DTS users and other spatial audio softwares users.

Would be cool if the devs would take a look at it, and even better if they could suggest or describe a bit more the different Sound System settings and especially the differences between 3D HEADPHONES and SPATIAL 3D.

Seems logic to me that 3D HEADPHONES is made for users that don't have any HRTF or Spatial audio software running or installed (Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, etc...) and SPATIAL 3D is made to fit with these software if they are installed and running ?

Cheers

I'm having a similar issue despite attempts to troubleshoot or copy Windows/sound settings from YouTubers that have their 3D headphones (and other sound systems) enabled. I'm using some Logitech headphones connected through a Focusrite audio interface so I believe I should be able to use at least the 3D Headphones Sound System option.

    Hello everyone,

    CONSOLE ISSUE:

I am have similar issues on Xbox series x with BF6.

I have Dolby Atmos app, properly selected Dolby Atmos Headphone format in Xbox system settings.

In BF6 game settings Auto Audio there is No sound, the 3d Headphones is limited sound channels so sounds are limited. The ONLY selection is Headphones with No Dolby Atmos.

Can someone tell me if there is a work around? Or is the BF6 game broken?

Note: The Dolby Atmos soundbar works great! Issue is headset.

I'm having various problems with the audio on BF6 on Xbox Series X.

Sometimes it will detect Dolby Atmos and enables 3D Spatial in the game's auto settings, sometimes it doesn't detect it at all. Sometimes I cannot even manually select it because it says that I do not have the compatibility.

When it does detect it, there are numerous problems with the in-game audio.

Audio cues / SFX are often cut short or missing completely. For example, the defibrillator might only play the first part of the sound effect, the rest is missing completely. This issue will return to normal a minute or so later.

Sometimes the majority of the game's audio will vanish in the middle of a match, except for my own footsteps and gunfire. Other players (friendly and enemy) will be firing completely silent weapons, vehicles will be silent, ambient audio is missing, etc. This will not resolve itself for the duration of the match. Sometimes it will resolve for the following match, but will sometimes require a reboot to resolve it.

The audio will sometimes become muted and 'muddy' in the middle of a game. It's as if I have been affected by a stun grenade and the muted effect does not wear off, like you have water in your ears. This issue does not resolve itself for the duration of the match but seems to return to normal the following match.

Footsteps, friendly + enemy, are sometimes missing entirely or will cut in loudly and suddenly when a player crosses an invisible line on the ground. This is not a 'bad headphones' excuse for why I have died. I have tested this problem multiple times, with team mates and bots.

I can provide video clips showing that the footstep audio is simply not there when the player is running back and forth, literally 1 metre away from me, in a relatively quiet part of the map. Then, 20 seconds later, I can easily hear the booming footsteps of a different player that is 25 metres away, on the other side of the road. I can also provide a video clip showing a near silent enemy (that I was aware of and waiting for) running into the room, where the footstep audio suddenly becomes clearly audible when he is about 1 metre away from me, with no gradual increase as he approaches.

It's easy to confirm that this is not an issue with my headphones / digital audio decoder. The footstep audio is missing from the video clips, which come directly from the console's internal recording system. My headphones / digital audio decoder are simply not involved in the audio processing on clips recorded through the Xbox.

Vehicle audio also often seems to be missing or not playing at the correct distance. Such as a silent tank 5 metres away, the audio will suddenly cut in loudly with no gradual increase as it approaches, other times tanks will be audible at relatively long range, even during a firefight.

And somehow, the audio in Redsec seems to be even worse than in the main game.

The implementation of spatial audio seems to be poor in general. You cannot rely on the audio cues to even play, never mind be audible at the correct distance or from the correct direction.

    Same here on PS5.
    “Unsupported Format, Defaulted to STEREO

     3D Audio Disabled.

TO ENABLE 3D AUDIO YOU WILL NEED TO ENABLE IT IN YOUR PLATFORMS SETTINGS”

It’s on in settings and works for every other game
