Forum Discussion
Hi EA team,
I just purchased the game via Steam on a brand new PC (which I pretty much bought to, among others, play this game, so would be a shame if I can't) and I have unfortunately been experiencing a variety of issues including game crashes like the OP in this thread.
Here is the info you request:
Steam ID: KalionVDS
OS Version: Windows 11 Pro 25H2
GPU: MSI RTX 5070 12G VENTUS 2X OC
GPU Driver: GeForce GameReady 591.86
Date/Time the issue occurred: Various over the last two days.
Brief summary of your bug: Various, mainly: 1. Game freezes with same error message as OP. 2. Sudden PC reboot with no error message. One time even a blue screen. 3. Game exits with no error message or warning.
Type of issue: DirectX crash/PC crash/Game exits to desktop
Mode where it occurred & Map: Main menu (when DirectX crash, MP (when exiting randomly, various maps, different times)
Any other errors: See above (BSoD, exiting randomly)
DxDiag: See attached
Some more details: I only experience this error in BF6. (Fortunately) I am not able to reproduce the BSoDs. Other games do not suffer from the same problem. I attempted the following tweaks:
- (Clean) driver reinstall -> No effect
- Disable overlays (discord, steam, benchmarks)-> positive effect (delays game exit) but not permanent solution
- Run in windowed mode -> Positive effect if next point is applied
- Disable "Optimizations for windowed games" -> Positive effect (delays DirectX crash)
- Force "High-performance" card use in graphics settings -> No effect
- Change or disable DOCP settings in BIOS -> No effect
I believed the crashed and reboots may have been related to PSU/mobo instability so I ran various benchmarks and tests (Prime95, Heaven, CB R23, 3DMark Steel Nomad/Time Spy, OCCT PSU test) but none of them triggered any problems.
Could you please assist me in solving the problem?
Thank you

found a solution for those who have an Asus AMD configuration, update the BIOS to the latest version available, install chipset drivers version 7.06, video card updates version 25 10 1, after doing this the game does not have any type of crash, I had noticed that the problem did not concern the video card but the management and the BIOS and the chipset have solved this problem, good game to all

Hi all,
Good news! I was able to (almost) fully remediate the problem (edit: for myself, obviously, not the entire community).
For some context, I experienced a BSoD outside of running BF6, so I started to suspect the problem may not be BF6 related after all.
After trying what feels like every other solution on the internet without success, I decided to reset BIOS to default and do a full reinstall of Windows 11, following the steps described by the "Guide: What to do AFTER building your computer..." by JayzTwoCents on youtube.
The thing that caught my eye in this video is that he explains that after first booting into windows, he recommends letting the automatic windows updates run fully before installing any recent drivers. He claims this prevents problems caused by certain functionality not fully "unlocking" when installing the latest drivers. In my first windows install I did not do this, in fact I installed all the mobo/gpu drivers from a USB before connecting to internet and THEN allowing windows update to run. This was an approach suggested by LinusTechTips, which I now do not recommend, in favor of the approach by JTC.
Anyway, I reinstalled Win11, let it update, THEN installed the latest motherboard and nvidia drivers. (FYI I was already running the most recent BIOS version, back when I was still having issues).
Now, I've been playing BF6 for almost 3 hours without a single crash.
I hope this helps someone!
EDIT: about 15 hours more now, have had only one crash when I received an in-game EA invite. Still considering this a massive improvement.

3 hours is too early to say that your method works, many of us have been there, tweak some settings here then get some false hope because it did not crash for hours or days then it somewhat crashes again

Just wait you are going to get crashes again, I tried everything, the problem is this game and the DEV team that does not care.

yep even after 3-6 months and nothing no Silent Patch no acknowledgement nothing Silents and you wounder why Companies who don't take Bug Report Forums Seniors and unless it hit there pockets they don't patch it until it stars to cost them like for once Take Reports we have Given them DXDaig minidumps and we when the whole 9 yards Reinstall win11 DDU and get latest Drivers and we Crash and they take no steps to Reach out to us for more Details
