E_NOINTERFACE Crash at 1080p on RTX 5060 Laptop
Hello,
Battlefield 6 consistently crashes with the following DirectX error:
DirectX function "m_swapChain->Present(syncInterval, presentFlags)" failed with E_NOINTERFACE ("Operation aborted.")
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
Driver: 581.95
File: SwapChainPcDx12.cpp
The issue began after the Season 4 update.
Reproduction:
- The game is stable in Windowed mode at 1920x1080.
- The game can also run in Fullscreen mode at 1280x720.
- It crashes immediately when switching from Windowed to Borderless or Fullscreen at 1920x1080.
- It crashes when changing the resolution from 1280x720 to 1920x1080.
- It also crashes when launching directly in 1920x1080 Fullscreen or Borderless mode.
System:
- Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10, Type 83JE
- Intel Core i5-13450HX
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
- Intel UHD Graphics
- 24 GB RAM
- Windows 11 Pro, build 26200
- Internal display: 1920x1080, 144 Hz
Troubleshooting already completed:
- Verified and repaired the game files
- Reinstalled the game
- Reset Battlefield configuration files and shader cache
- Cleared NVIDIA DXCache
- Disabled NVIDIA, Discord and Xbox overlays
- Disabled Frame Generation, HDR, Smooth Motion and DLSS overrides
- Tested V-Sync on and off
- Tested HAGS on and off
- Tested 60 Hz and 144 Hz
- Tested Windowed, Borderless and Fullscreen modes
- Tested Hybrid Graphics and dGPU-only modes
- Reinstalled the Lenovo OEM Intel graphics driver
- Installed the Lenovo OEM NVIDIA driver through Lenovo Vantage
- Tested multiple NVIDIA driver versions
- Disabled fullscreen optimizations
- Rebooted after every driver and GPU-mode change
The exact same E_NOINTERFACE error occurs in both Hybrid and dGPU-only modes. Other games are stable, and Battlefield 6 itself remains stable until the display mode or resolution changes to 1920x1080.
This strongly suggests a swap-chain recreation or presentation issue rather than general GPU instability.
Related reports:
1. Another Lenovo gaming laptop user with an RTX 5050 Laptop GPU has confirmed the exact same error:
m_swapChain->Present(syncInterval, presentFlags)
E_NOINTERFACE
SwapChainPcDx12.cpp
Their issue also began after the Season 4 update and persists after reinstalling the game and updating the graphics driver.
2. Another RTX 5060 user has reported a closely related Season 4 crash in the same function and source file:
m_swapChain->Present(...)
SwapChainPcDx12.cpp
Their HRESULT is DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL instead of E_NOINTERFACE, but the crash still occurs in the same DX12 presentation path. Reinstalling the game, repairing the files and rolling back the NVIDIA driver did not resolve it.
These reports suggest that the issue may be a broader Season 4 regression in Battlefield 6's DX12 swap-chain or presentation code, potentially affecting RTX 50-series GPUs and particularly RTX 50-series laptop systems.

Please investigate this issue and forward it to the Battlefield PC rendering team.
Update after the latest patch:
The issue is still present. Battlefield 6 continues to crash with the exact same
m_swapChain->Present / E_NOINTERFACE error when launching or switching to 1920x1080 Fullscreen or Borderless mode.
1920x1080 Windowed mode and 1280x720 Fullscreen remain stable.
The latest patch did not resolve the DX12 swap-chain/presentation crash.
