JoyToKey not allowing me to play

Hi I'm an incomplete quadriplegic who relies on a custom controller and software to be able to play video games. the program i use emulates keystrokes to allow me to use a custom controller with joysticks and buttons. when i go to start the game it tells me i can't start it with this program running and I'm really unsure what to do. the program is called JoyToKey, any help would be appreciated.
