New Update - GAME NOT OPENING ANYMORE - PS5

Question

Since the installation of the latest update the game fails to open on my ps5. pop up tells me “Game or App could not load”

I WOULD be more understanding if this is the first time this has happened with a bf6. update.
it is the 3rd time.

first time resulted in needing to delete the entire game and redownload the game. (Each update file and also game file deleted and installed again from scratch, cache & database rebuild, licence restore, and storage management and storage repair did not work resulting in the game needing to be reinstalled

second time was a simple cache and licences clearing.

THIS time THIS update today 09/12 Well .. still figuring it out databased restore, cache rebuild, licences restore haven’t worked so far now onto storage repair and no doubt just end up downloading it all again

why should I have to download the game 3 times just because a game gets an update ???

I am not happy that I spend my time, and downloads, install the game update and then I am forced to spend hours error testing a solution to this issue.

anyone got any ways to solve this issue or come up against the same problem or am I the only one?

Yep, same here. Not an issue really, just annoying. Also can confirm the settings did not reset.

Yeah, ran into the same problem as you with this update (9/12/2025). First time though.

I have tried the same optiones as you as well and really don’t want to redownload the game just yet, since I don’t want to mess around with the game settings if they get reset when redownloading the game.

Have you or anyone else came agross any solution other than redownloading the game?And do you know if deleting the game resets your in game settings (button mapping, etc.)?

Same issue here. I really don’t want to have to delete and download it all again either, simply wanted to de-stress by shooting stuff (or rather, repeatedly getting wiped) yet all l get is a message saying ‘Can’t start the game or app’

l am no tech wizard, just a dumb builder, but if l built your house, then it vanished after you painted it, you would think that was pretty crap right?

I would go play BO7 instead but l am neither 8 years old or **bleep**, so l guess l will have to wait until someone brighter than me figures out what the hell to do.

Hi. Turns out I had to do the delete and re-download again. The setting should remain the same.&nbsp;

One theory on the last update which I haven’t tested as to why it may have corrupted the game files could be due to insufficient FREE space on the hdd to complete the install correctly. Just a theory for now. For eg with helldivers on pc, even if the update is say 20 gb still requires 100gb free for install. Not saying bf6 would require 100gb on console ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes it’s on ps5, however I’m just throwing ideas out there
