PC Settings Bug

Can we back up our settings file somehow? I am against editing folders, but 100% into min maxing my settings in game. During the beta, updates kept causing my settings to wipe. On release I was unable to play for hours, then only in portal, then found the fix was rolled out and was told to clear EA app cache, which wiped my settings again. now today I had a game update and my settings are wiped. It takes me a long time to reset all my colors, key binds for infantry/each vehicle, sensitivity etc etc. This will be something like the 6th time I have to spend and hour doing settings, then realizing I have missed some stuff for a day or so after. Not sure exactly how much time it is costing me, probly around 10 hours lol.

I have been trying to make sure windows defender is allowing everything BF6 related through, going in now to do another round of giving access. Basically, I am sure this is some sort of bug and I don't mind, just looking for a temp solution so I can at least have a copy of my settings on hand for when this inevitably keeps happening.

Thank you so much PC players, I have 0 experience messing with BF6 game files and I could really use some insight.

  • C:\Program Files => right click on EA games folder => Properties => Security => Under group and usernames allow full control on Administrators and or your username => Apply changes for all folders and subfolders.

  • OK, made those changes too. I highlighted Administrators, clicked edit, then individually clicked each option under [group or user names:] (examples: all application packages, all restricted application packages etc) and made sure to check the [allow] box for [full control] on each. Also made the same changes under Users

I did not see a button for "Apply changes for all folders and subfolders." Hopefully I did it correctly and what you meant was to go through each [group or user names:] and check [allow] under [full control]

    Thanks for the tip!

Assuming default install location... it's all saved in profsave files

Easy enough, just copy a single folder C:\Users\your_name_here\Documents\Battlefield 6\

You might want to delete any crash dumps.

  • Nice! That was the correct location for me. I have four files, PROFSAVE, PROFSAVE_profile, SaveGameMetadata.sav and SP-Checkpoint.sav. For now I just saved a copy of the whole folder.
