Returning to the main menu after the map reaches 100% — recurring issue on PC
Hello,
I'd like to start a discussion about an issue that I regularly experience with Battlefield 6 Portal on PC, and which is really affecting my overall BF6 gaming experience.
When I join a Portal server, the map loads normally and reaches 100%. At that point, instead of entering the game, the screen goes black with the BF6 logo and I eventually get sent back to the main menu, without any error message or error code.
The problem is random but recurring: although some matches launch perfectly, most attempts fail in this way.
What makes me think this is more likely related to Portal or the server connection is that I haven't experienced the same issue in the regular multiplayer modes — although I haven't played those very much.
I'm particularly disappointed by this because Portal is by far the main way I play BF6. That's what makes the issue especially frustrating: after finally finding an interesting server, sometimes with a decent number of real players, waiting for the entire map to load only to be sent back to the main menu is quite discouraging.
This is even more frustrating considering that many Portal servers already have a lot of bots and relatively few real players, so finding a good server with an active player base can take some time.
I'm not necessarily looking for a user-side workaround here. I'd mainly like to know:
- Are other PC players experiencing exactly the same issue?
- Is this Portal issue already known to EA/DICE?
- Is it currently being investigated or is a fix planned?
I'm still enjoying Portal overall, and that's precisely why I'd really like to see this issue addressed — it's my main way of playing BF6.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and feedback.

Hi there,
Thank you for the report. Today’s (September 1) Game Update 1.4.2.5 includes:
- We’ve addressed several causes of black screens after finishing a match and switching from the Event tab to the lobby. This should reduce how often the issue occurs while we continue investigating remaining occurrences.
