Serious Issue with Enemy Footstep Audio in Battlefield 6

Hello EA team and community,

I’d like to bring up a serious issue that’s been bothering me — and that many other players have also mentioned — regarding the enemy footstep audio. It’s currently very low, inconsistent, and confusing.

Many times, enemies rush toward me and I simply can’t hear their footsteps at all — it feels like they just spawned right behind me. The overall audio design of the game is good, but the footstep sound is one of its weakest points right now:

The directional cues (above, below, left, right) are unclear

The audible distance is too short — footsteps only become audible when the enemy is about 3 meters away

The volume and consistency of footsteps are much lower than expected

I’ve tested multiple configurations trying to fix this:

Enabled 3D audio using a compatible headset

Purchased and tested Dolby Atmos, which slightly improved the situation (from 3/10 to maybe 4.2/10), but it’s still bad

Tried different audio mix settings on my sound card, which helped a bit but made the rest of the game’s audio sound buggy

What’s interesting is that this issue only happens in this Battlefield. I recently replayed BF1, BFV, and BF2042, and in all of them, the footstep audio is excellent — clear, directional, and reliable. In contrast, BF6 feels more like BF3 or BF4, where the same issue existed: inconsistent and very low footstep sounds.

Honestly, I consider this one of the biggest problems in the game right now, along with the netcode. Without reliable footstep audio, it’s extremely frustrating to play competitively — it’s impossible to react properly when you can’t tell where enemies are coming from.

It would be great if the audio team could revisit this and aim for the same level of quality and spatial clarity found in BF1, BFV, or BF2042. I’m sure improving this would make a huge difference in gameplay and immersion for everyone.

Thanks for your attention and hard work!

  • Something isn't right at all.  It's as you say.  i am not sure why more people are not bringing this up.  It needs looked at.
