I am having the same issue even after season 2 and it's so annoying. Your description of the problem was superb, I hope this will eventually get fixed.
Same issues here..
No problems while playing team deathmarch. Only on large scales battles with intense combat. But when switching to surround sound, the crackling dissappears.
When playing with the headphones and you're creating a movie clip on ps5, the crackling sound gets recorded as well. But when playing with my surround, and creating a movie clip, the crackling sound doesn't get recorded at all
