STEAM - Connection Failed Error 1:86001S:66003S:468882297O:0B

I cannot connect to Battlefield 6 servers via Steam. Getting consistent error:

Connection Failed - Error Code: 1:86001S:66003S:468882297O:0B

Platform: Steam (purchased on Steam)

EA Account: Verified linked to Steam at ea.com/account/connections

Troubleshooting Steps Already Completed:

  • Verified game files integrity on Steam (100% validated)
  • Cleared EA App cache via Help > App Recovery
  • Ran EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe as administrator
  • Changed DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
  • Restarted router (full power cycle)
  • Logged out and back into EA Account
  • Reinstalled EA App completely
  • Verified Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 enabled

Result: Error persists after all standard fixes.

Additional Information:

Based on forum research, this appears to be an EA backend authentication issue affecting multiple Steam players. The error structure 1:86001S:66003S suggests account ID mismatch that cannot be resolved client-side.

Multiple threads confirm this same error:

Request: This requires EA backend team intervention. Can a community manager or EA staff member escalate this to the authentication team? This is blocking gameplay entirely since launch.

  • I purchased the game through Steam.
    I'm playing on Laptop, Alienware AREA 51mr2, RTX2080, 32GB RAM, i9-10900k, SSD (2TB)
    Internet is working fine.
    * TPM 2.0 enabled
    * Secure Boot enabled
    * All dirvers are updated.
    * BIOS is updated
    * Steam and EA App accounts are linked
    * EA App and Steam are both updated (made sure of that)

    EA App is working, I can play FIFA through the EA App (it connects to EA servers)
    Internet is working fine.

    [Edit]: As soon as I installed the game on launch day, i was able to succesfully sign in, I went to the firing range to test the gunplay, then I quit as I had somewhere to go. Once I came back to the game, I was never able to make it past the "connecting to online Services" Screen. I've tried logging in at different times, to no luck.
    I have tried:

    1. Verify Game files through Steam (all correctly verified, multiple itmes)
    2. unplugging USBs, replugging USBs,
    3. Run other games thorough EA App, they run fine.
    4. using WIfi/Ethernet, switch between them
    5. I'm not using a VPN
    6. [Edit] - Enabling/Disabling Steam Overlay
    7. [Edit] Rebooting Laptop - still cant connect
    8. [Edit] Reset modem / mesh - No good
    9. [Edit] Turning on/off EA overlay (Game does not even show in EA App, as it is from steam, but hey, cant hurt to try - No luck)
    10. [Edit] Adding the game to the antivirus (Kaspersky) exclusions. -Did not work
    11. [Edit] Runing the .exe as administrator - No luck
    12. [Edit] Running the Anticheat exe as administrator -Nope
    13. [Edit] Second gues my life choices - Made it worse.
    14. [Edit] Clearing cache of both Steam and EA App - Nay.
    15. [Edit] Turning off overlay from NVIDIA - Nein

    Is anyone else having these problems? IF YOU DO, please post it here, that way we can increase the chances of EA team spotting this issue/thread.

    This error is caused by your account having two separate EA IDs which is not something that should be possible but I can promise you that if you were able to put into a ticket, you're wasting your time. EA support literally does not grasp what the issue is and I tried to argue with them for over 5 hours last night. Basically for example if I go on the EA desktop app and go to my profile, it will not show my correct EA ID instead of my current one but by changing my "Nickname" on that profile to the correct ID it would overwrite the nickname and fix my profile to have the correct name. This issue would happen to me with Battlefield 2042 and that was how I would fix it.

    However, now I'm in the same situation as you as I own the game on steam and this is not an option to fix the game. No matter how many tickets you put in support doesn't understand what the issue is and our games are basically bricked unless you can convince them to fix this issue on your account. The error we're getting is an account authentication error caused by ID mismatch and you literally cannot fix it on your end with the Steam copy of the game without starting over.

    I've tried unlinking and relinking to the same account but it did not fix the issue. Linking to a brand new account should 100% fix the problem but you're going to probably lose all of your game progress that you made on the first day.

  • I can't connect to Battlefield 6. Every time I try, I get a connection error message with this code: Connection failed, error code: 1:86001S:66003S:4688822970:0B.
    I've tried restarting the game and network, using a VPN, changing my EA account, DNS, ports, clearing my balance, and disconnecting USB ports. Although I haven't done anything since the game was released, the issue persists. Please provide me with instructions to resolve this issue.

    I have tried everything I have been able to find to fix this issue and I have had no luck. This is truly so stupid and needs to be fixed. Is anyone else having issues resolving this ridiculous issue?
