Stuck at black screen during game launch from EA App on PC?

So I'm on PC and use the EA App. Occasionally, I get stuck on a black screen at launch. My game typically loads... then opens a smaller sized black square, after about 10 seconds it goes full screen and the game is ready. Usually just from OCD, click the smaller black window and it seems to help it along. I've noticed sometimes when I don't click it or dont pay attention. It gets stuck on a full black screen. I hear my GPU fans going, the game is technically running, yet I cannot Ctrl+Alt+Delete out, or Alt F4, or anything - windows is still working because if I just click the power button, it properly shuts down the PC. Reliability/Event viewer sometimes shows a failed windows update to coincide with this but other times it doesn't. Has anyone else had similar issues? Other than this, the game works fine and I can play for hours. I wouldn't call this an actual "crash".
