Ultrawide: 16:9 resolution stretched to full panel despite GPU Scaling enabled
Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue where playing at a 16:9 resolution on my ultrawide monitor results in the image being stretched across the full panel instead of displaying with black bars on the sides.
My setup:
- Monitor: ViewSonic VX3418-2KPC (3440x1440 ultrawide, connected via DisplayPort)
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
- AMD Adrenalin – GPU Scaling: Enabled
- AMD Adrenalin – Scaling Mode: Preserve Aspect Ratio
- In-game Display Mode: Fullscreen
- Target resolution: 2560x1440 (16:9)
What happens: The game ignores the driver's aspect ratio scaling and stretches the 2560x1440 image to fill the entire 21:9 panel. This used to work correctly in a previous version of the game.
What I've tried:
- Verified GPU Scaling is enabled globally in AMD Adrenalin
- Set Scaling Mode to Preserve Aspect Ratio both globally and per-game
- Added 2560x1440 as a Custom Resolution in AMD Adrenalin
- Tested in Fullscreen mode only (GPU Scaling does not apply in Borderless Windowed)
None of these resolved the issue. It appears the game is overriding the driver scaling setting introduced after a recent update.
Please consider addressing this in an upcoming patch. Many ultrawide users rely on driver-level scaling to play at a lower resolution with correct aspect ratio.
Thank you.
