stilscratchin I hear you. I may be a lot older than a lot of the players; like you I've been playing online since 2005 (and before that in single player too, as I didn't have internet). Long gone are the days when skill actually meant something. Now it's a combination of high ping, server lag, and console players with aim assist, and I get it; it happens me too - you shoot the guy square in the back, and get hit markers 5,..6,..7,..8.. and he's still alive, and he moves his gun...and you're dead with the first shot from his LMG and you're thinking ... what the actual %*&£!
Don't start me on netcode. I was in Tsuru map the other day and got the drop on two snipers camping in different buildings on the dock beside A base. The first guy is 6 metres away, and he started to turn so I emptied him with my silenced smg. The second sniper in the next building hasn't heard the shots, and is still peering through the window, and I have a plain line of sight to him, about 15 metres away, and I fire a short burst of around 6 shots, only for everyone of them to hit an invisible wall !! Of course he hears the rounds hitting this wall, and turns, and before I can say 'Jack..' I'm dead with a headshot from his sniper rifle.
Or lying at the edge of a cliff, looking down at the enemy below at H base, and I take out my PSR with silencer and scope, and I see one guy on his own around the side, and I fire...but no hits...only to find out that the rounds I'm firing are again hitting an invisible edge of the cliff I'm lying on.
The maps are atrocious. In all the series of Battlefield, in all the maps they've produced, they still cant seem to get the bullet to actually travel from the end of the gun; it seems it's actually starting from a point within the player. I can't think why else a bullet would hit the ground with a clear line of sight...oh wait... we're back to those invisible walls again. You know the ones when you're flying a chopper, and suddenly your heli is upside down, and you're out of control, wondering "did I get hit with a missile?"...No it's an invisible wall...
I think I'll be joining you shortly. BF2 brought me to online FPS, BF6 will see me leave.
