Why would you remove legacy controls (joystick)?

Hello! (again this posting is without prejudice nor hostility),

I'm trying to understand why the developers of this game, after so many years (I started playing BF during the 1942 desert combat days, bf2, bf4 / bf1) would remove the ability to use a keyboard and joystick for flight? I mean, it was busted in bf4 until they updated the ui, then in bf1 it was imbedded.

That being said, is there any solution other than not flying? Thanks!

(I use the logitech extreme 3d pro joystick and adverse to ever using a controller as it is slop).
