100% disk usage

Well 5400rpm drive might not be helping. How ever your should be able to find out whats causing the 100% disk usage by opening Task manager and selecting the performance tab and then selecting Open Resource Monitor.

Once you click that it will open Resource Monitor to where you can click the Disk bar which will then expand showing what processes are using the disk. It would be advisable to run resource monitor in full screen though to make it easier to read the text.


Hopefully this will aid you in finding out what the cause is of the 100% usage issue.

Ok it seems then it could be that the 5400rpm drive is causing a bottleneck when Battlefield is trying to read the data off the drive. What graphical setting are you currently running on. Lowering graphical setting might help but not by much.

Normally 5400rpm drivers are used to store data like music etc for gaming 7200rpm drives are perferred if you want to stick to mechanical drives or a SSD would be better.

Is your OS also on that drive ?

There is one thing you can try though.

Press the Windowskey and R, then type services.msc .

Once a new windows opens look for superfetch and change start up type to Disabled and reboot. See if that helps sometimes it does. If it doesn't work then you can just got back into services.msc and change the Superfetch service back to Auto again.

One other thing to try is to disable Origin In Game that sometimes helps too.

well its a start in the right direction. Ok another question for you have you updated your Intel Drivers for either Intel Chipset or Hard drive controller?

If you have updated Intel RST, uninstall it and let Microsoft's driver take over and see if that helps.

If your using Intels RST 13.x.x branch that has been known to cause some issues if using the microsoft driver helps i suggest you download from intels site Intel RST 12.9.4 as that is a stable driver for the intel sata controllers. Also can you confirm your running in AHCI mode and not IDE this can be found in the Bios of your laptop. Some times you have to press either F2 Del or F11 to get into the Bios.
