AMD 0.0.0 Driver Error

I am unable to play Battlefield 1 due to the game not recognizing the driver version of my GPU. I am currently running a Radeon RX 6800 XT. I am only receiving this error when trying to launch Battlefield 1. I have played Battlefield 1 previously using a Nvidia card. My current PC does not reference any other display adapters and I have tried a fresh install of the driver. I am currently running version 22.5.1.

I have browsed through the threads and Google only finding dead ends and no answers. What can be done to fix this and make the game playable?

  • This is how I fixed it. Maybe it will help. ( Steam, Vega64, driver 22.5.1)

    1) Download AMD Cleanup Utility https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601 and your AMD driver Adrenalin https://www.amd.com/en/support

    2) Uninstall drivers with the Cleanup Utility

    3) Install new drivers

    4) Launch Battlefield once

      - it should give you the same error and queue up the driver update

    5) follow these instructions how to hide updates from Windows in administrator PowerShell https://pureinfotech.com/hide-updates-windows-10/ and hide all the AMD updates. (You are updating with Adrenalin anyway)

    6) Launch the game

I don't know how it worked but after I did all that, no error whatsoever. I guess the driver update request was satisfied 😉

  • @EA_Barry I have tried to run EA desktop and Battlefield 1 as administrator and received the same error. Shouldn't have to run the game as administrator for it to work.
  • Got the same issue mate, only games running through the EA app seem to be giving this issue, good work EA!!

    Mark :-(

  • This is not only Battlefield 1 problem. EA launcher is looking for the driver so every EA game on this forum has page with AMD 0.0.0 error.

For some reason the launcher also tries to install new update, which bricked my GPU software last time I tried to play Battlefield 1. I specifically hid every GPU driver update from windows and after I got the 0.0.0 driver error driver update appeared in windows update utility. I hate that. I don't want to update newer driver, I am using the newest I can.
Don't try to download drivers when you think I don't have any installed. It is obvious it is not true when it gives driver version 0.0.0.

such a crap, we shouldn*'t be having to do workarounds, they sell the games and offer the launchers, they should make it work!!!
