Anyone else getting these funny lags? (Video included)

Hey,

Recently started to have unplayable lags, can't figure out why. Always choosing low ping servers, haven't changed any settings whatsoever. Successfully played on Win10 with no problems first days after the update.

Is it only me or are there any other poor souls with similar symptoms out there?

  • That looks like a problem with your connection or something network related. It would be useful if you can record a video of this issue while having the network performance graph active, you can activate it opening the console and typing the command "networkperfoverlay.drawgraph 1". While we try this, run also the performance graph with this command: "perfoverlay.drawgraph 1".

A video with these graphs will be much useful tu understeand the issue.

To disble the graphs just type those commands but with 0 instead that 1.

  • Rubberbanding lke that is usually indicative of server lag like Soldato_fantasma stated instead of a local problem. You said that you had a low ping, but were there others with extremely high pings in the server?

There are two things that I would do in order to elminate the potential for a local problem. Turn off Origin in game and download the latest GPU drivers that are specifically made for Win10. I had a lot of lag in SWTOR last night after my upgrade, but it went away when I installed the AMD specific Win10 drivers.

To turn off Origin in game log into Origin, in the upper left hand corner click on the word "Origin" in the menu, and then click on "Application Settings". Next go to the "Origin in game" tab and uncheck the "enable Origin in game" box.
  • Really interesting. This video shows 2 anomalies.

At moments I can see on the network graph some high latency spikes, this is what causes you to rubberband like that.

At the same moments the server has an high packetQueue, so it means that the server has problems to get inbound packets.

The change in the performance graph are normal since the GPu and CPU activity slows down when you are aiming since the system has less things to render.

In conclusion, this looks like a server problem. It has difficulties while getting inbound packets so it stutters for some milliseconds causing stutter to all the players. This may be caused by other players with really bad connection or by a server with network or hardware limitations.

The only thing that you can do is switching server to one that has better hardware and network or better connection players.
