Back up Battlefield 3

How do I backup BF3 and the Premium content so I don't have to download it all again? I understand new patches require another download but we should be able to backup our games.

Steam allows you to do a local backup of your games so why can't Origin. It was such a PITA getting the game installed on my new computer. All my Steam stuff was a breeze compared.

    hey

Pretty easy, this is how I did it.

    1. Copy the game folder "Battlefield 3" from Origin <install path>\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
    2. On the machine that doesn't have BF3 installed start the download and pause it immediately (when it gets to 0.01%), this will give origin a chance to create the folder on your computer.
    3. Replace the "Battlefield 3" folder with the one you copied.
    4. Resume installation, if everything is right, it should jump to 99% and download a couple of things and you're done!

Feel free to post your own tips if you didn't do it this way.

i think patches you will need to download anyway. more info  http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/434016/1/

Thanks I did get it to work once but when I tried again for my son computer upgrade it went through all the downloads. Wish EA would let Origin backup like Steam it would be so much simpler.

Thanks so much for this tip I tried it with Dead Space 3 game and it did work. I originaly downloaded it in my laptop with vista Operating system at my father in law place since he has fast internet connection. But I wanted to play it in my destop which has windows 7. Thanks again and if  you don't mind I will repost this tip with credit to your name. Note: in order to download Dead Space in my vista laptop, first I had to make sure I had log off from my origin game launcher, in my windows 7, on which I was downloading another smaller size game which didn't require a fast internet connection.  A pop windows came up and said that in order to download the Dead Space 3 in the laptop. It would automatically log off origin launcher from the desktop.
