Battlefield 1 crashes after 1 minute with no error

I have owned Battlefield 1 for about 2 weeks on steam, and for 1 week straight the game has been crashing after roughly a minute in the game. It works perfectly, no lag, and if I'm fast enough I can even get in a match, but it just crashes anyway. I've tried every option I can think of from file verification, reinstalls, updates to software and drivers, changing settings, closing/disabling softwares, compatibility modes. Basically anything.
Sometimes at night it chooses to ''fix itself'' and I am able to play the game with no issue for hours, but I am unsure as to why that might be.
I have heard that there was an recent anti cheat update and I'm unsure if that is part of the problem, I've read other boards but they didn't really help my problem.

  • Hello @Ti8i9,

Since you've already tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional suggestions that might help:

    1. Check for Background Applications: Ensure there are no background applications that could interfere with the game, such as overlays (Steam, Discord), recording software, or even some antivirus programs. Temporarily disable them to see if it makes a difference.

    2. Adjust Graphics Settings: Sometimes lowering the graphics settings can help stabilize performance, especially if the game is struggling with memory usage. Try setting everything to low to see if that resolves the crashes.

    3. Update DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables: Ensure you have the latest versions of DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables installed. These are critical for many games to function properly.

    4. Check Windows Event Viewer: After a crash, check the Event Viewer (under Windows Logs > Application) for any error messages related to Battlefield 1. This might give you clues as to what's causing the crashes.

    5. Network Connection: Sometimes network issues can cause crashes. Ensure your internet connection is stable. If possible, try using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.
    6. Temperature and Hardware Monitoring: Overheating can cause crashes. Use a program like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming.

    7. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows is fully updated, as sometimes game stability is improved with OS updates.

    8. Contact Support: If none of these solutions work, consider reaching out to EA Support.

    @danisoff
Thank you for the reply. Appreciate the help
I have been going through your suggestions, but in short, the problem still exists.
Disabled overlays for Steam, Discord, EA app, Nvidia, even disabled Wallpaper Engine. Set to a low res and graphics. Have the latest DX(12) and C++(2022). MSI at the highest showed around 50-60c temp, ~75% memory usage. Even after that, it crashed the same way with no error given
I'm not personally tech savvy enough to understand the event viewer, but through rummaging around and some scanning software, it didn't mention anything specifically about battlefield. but it showed a ''SECOCL64.exe'' crashing around 6000 times. To my knowledge its some audio related file that might have been corrupted from a recent windows update for HP laptops
But for now that's my only lead, even if it doesn't sound like it could be the problem

Update: After getting back to troubleshooting the SECOCL problem, I had launched a few times for it to crash like usual. But then I read how to disable ''Sound research SECOMN service'' and since then the game has stopped crashing. Hopefully it stays that way.
And thank you for directing me to some form of solution.

  • No problem, I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue @Ti8i9. If you need any more help, just ask. 😉
