Battlefield 1 Crash/low performance

It sounds like your machine is trying to use the video processing on your CPU rather than your GPU.

1. Open the nvidia Control Panel
2. Click Manage 3D settings
3. Click the Program Settings tab
4. Click the Add button
5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1\bf1.exe
6. Select bf1.exe and then Open
7. Customise individual settings if you like
8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.

Windows Update version 1803 is for Windows 10, not windows 7.

I was able to get through about 10 minutes of conquest, before I had another crash, no real change to outcome.  CPU cores are still sitting at 100% during gameplay.

• Right click and repair the game in Origin
• Right click and run both of the vcredist files (in your BF1 folder) as an Admin. then install or repair
• In your nvidia control panel, on both the section for Adjust image settings with preview and Manage 3D settings, click on Restore Defaults at the top right and click Apply.
• Install any available Windows Updates
• Perform a clean boot before starting Origin/the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Sorry about that, I quick read the specs and it is very similar to the Windows 10 issue people are having. Hope you find the fix for it.

Can you confirm you tried the steps in my first post?

It may be worthwhile checking the website of your hardware manufacturer for hardware driver updates.

I can confirm that I did try the steps in your first post.  I can also confirm all my drivers are up to date at this time.  

I should note, I was able to get through several rounds of TDM this morning without crashes, utilizing the following user.cfg file and manually assigning core affinity.  I have not tried any of the longer lasting game modes, but will be able to test that tomorrow.  Still, that I have to restrict my settings to such a degree to make the game playable, is somewhat concerning.

Alright, with my testing today I can confirm:
1.  I am crashing without a user.cfg file and manually assigning cores. 
2.  I am crashing with a user.cfg and not manually assigning cores.  
3.  With both the custom user.cfg file above, and manually assigning BF1 to cores 0,2,4,6,8,and 10, I was able to get through multiple conquest rounds without crashes, however the sample size thusfar is not particularly large.  I will update as things change - if I experience no crashes after a more prolonged amount of testing, I will confirm this as having been successful in resolving my issue at this time, although I do hope for game optimizations and fixes in the future as going in and manually setting affinity each time I start up BF1 is not ideal, as you might imagine.
