battlefield 1942 controls

I have successfully played Battlefield 1942 on my old system with Windows 7.  I recently upgraded my system and installed Windows 10.  I can still access and play Battlefield 1942 but when I enter the game, my mouse works to look around but left clicking does not fire.  My keyboard does not do anything, for example the W key does not move forward.

They game is working but my keyboard controls do not work in-game.

Also, I noticed that if I try to change the color of the crosshairs from black to any other color, the game will not save that setting.  It always reverts to black.

Do I have to reinstall everything?

    Hi @Mr_Spinkles

You may need to reinstall but have you checked in game settings and mouse/keyboard drivers?

Also if you can you could try changing the compatibility mode for the game to windows 7/8, you would need to find the game location on your system and right click the .exe game file then go to properties and inside should be compatibility options.

It’s worth a try at least but if you still have no luck let us know and I’ll try and look more into it for you.
  • This definitely sounds like a installation issue you could try a reinstallation which wouldn't take that long with Battlefield 1942. if that doesn't work maybe try to install battlefield 1942 into a different folder then program files.

because Windows 10 doesn't give full control over program files sometimes this is causing issues with old games because they actually store user data settings inside of the game folder .

so you might have to install into it entirely different folder which is not controlled by windows.
