I have re installed this game but still when i click on it to play it goes to a black screen. that after about 2 seconds goes into a small square in the top left courner. i then get and error message saying BF2142.exe has stopped working.
can anyone help me as to why this is ?
I realise its an old game but i played it not that long ago.
I have a similar problem. Game just won't launch. If this is a sign of things to come. Digital downloads will just die out, who will pay extra for a digital copy that just dies when you can buy a hard copy that will last indefinatly.
This game is unfortunatly not covered by the "get your money back" or Good Game Garuantee scheme. What a shame
try this - delete/rename the "Battlefield 2142" folder in your documents
both copies of 2142, fail to start on windows 10, no matter what compat mode I use, 2142 used to work with vista, but this is not the first free title that will not run under windows 10, it would be nice in the future to clearly state this so I don't just download and have a game that does not work on my system.

It would be Microsoft's fault if they claim to offer Windows XP compatibility and fail to do so correctly, but IMO, they've made a lot of promises about this Win-10 thing they never intended to keep!

Thank you for the info, it made good reading, on issues that fail to start the game, and if the compat modes don't work in windows 10 I think running the fix facility would be pointless also, I will just have to hide the games in my games list in origin, I did contact Origin support and the chap was very helpful, but could not fix my issue with the game not starting, correctly, I used to enjoy a game or two in the past as it was fun to play, again thank you for your help.
Goto Battlefield2142.co for all the information to play currently in 2016 on our community Gamespy fix... You should be able to run in Windows XP Svc Pack 3 compatibility mode and it will work.. We have 6000 registered players and plenty of them got it working on Win 10.. If you need help we also have a public teamspeak for help in getting the game patched and working...
