  • solved by deleting "PROF_SAVE_body" file

    from: C:\Users\YOUR USER\Documents\Battlefield 3\settings

  • I am currently on the phone waiting for EA to answer. Been waiting about 20 minutes and nothing yet. If I findout what wrong and how to fix it i'll post it. So far nothing has worked. If they can't fix it i'll ask for a refund.

  • Same problem.  Ran repair and it returned nothing.  Checked here, one of the responses stated deleting the profile information helped.  Attempted, the game resynced my data (as to be expected), then continued to crash.  Uninstalling/reinstalling now to see if that solves it.  Will update with results.

Guide to resolve "Battlefield 3 not working" error message when entering the "Initializing" phase:

    Description of the problem :
This guide is based on my personal problems with Battlefield 3. I cannot promise that this fix will apply for all users but it worked for me.

This guide aim to resolve an error that occurs when Battlefield 3 enters the phase/stage "Initializing" when joining a server and the user gets a Windows error message stating that "Battlefield 3 has stopped working".

The cause of the problem is a corrupt file that is being downloaded when the user connects to the cloud system.

If you have this problem reinstalling Battlefield 3/ Origin/ PunkBuster or getting a new PC will not help since the same corrupt will be downloaded as soon as you try to join a server.

Instead you can follow this guidelines for a very quick fix of the issue.

    Step by Step Guide:
    1: Navigate to {PC username} > My Documents >Battlefield 3 > settings

2: Here you should be able to find a file named PROF_SAVE_BODY. Open this file, if it is completely blank you have found the roots of your problems, if the file is not blank this may not be your problem and this guide is unlikely to help you.

    3: Delete this file.

4: Then open Origin and right click on Battlefield 3 in your game library.

5: Select "Show Game Details" and select the "Cloud storage" option next to "Details".

6: Deactivate cloud storage for Battlefield 3 or for all Origin games.

7: Now you can join a server. Battlefield 3 will notice that the file is missing and make a replacement file, this file will be using correct data and your problem should now be resolved.

Hey buddy you just made my day!

I was thinking my brand new PC had problems (or that my backup-restore procedure failed somewhere), but your guide fixed it! Thank you!
