I completely reinstalled bf4 but still have the same problem FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I followed the steps with CCleaner etc and all the other steps, except for the Framework update etc (don't this that that has got anything to do with this?) but after a few games it crashed again...
Zorlac maybe we could meet up via teamviewer sometime..
Well this is so not the error to take short cuts on sadly and doing a new install of the game will not change anything when we don't fix whats wrong on the PC correct. I learned all this the hard way when I had this error and this is why I say to do all the steps with the CC cleaner. Think of it this way when we install a new video card driver even though we pick clean install fragments of the old driver are still in the registry. And just my view but I think this is one of a few things to help make this error.
I am still testing on my PC but when I turn page file off I get BF4 stopped working when I turn page file back on it goes away. But like I said I am still testing this and will test another few weeks before I add it to my fixes. The error is different I get doing this in event viewer it shows from memory not video card driver but it is interesting.
Edit just seen your new post... ok now reboot PC run repair game its almost like it all has to work its self out and it may need it a few times. With the Framework update I would do it to fully cover it all just in case.
I have no idea what teamviewer is this I will look up 😕mileyhappy:
Edit2 ... just thought of this when you removed BF4 did you kill the BF4 folder in my documents ?
BF4 folder in my documents holds game configs and screen shots even if BF4 is installed on different drive. When you uninstall BF4 it does NOT remove this folder. So when you install the game again you can still have the same issues. Even if its not a new install it is still worth trying as the game cfg could be mucked up.
1- Go to my Documents and remove BF4 folder place it on your Desktop or trash.
2- Be warned you do have to set up your in game settings again.
3-Repair BF4
4- When done go test your game. If it fails reboot your PC and run repair game again and test BF4.Also a buddy who did my fix fully no short cuts had same crash over and over what we did to fix it was....
NOTE : from Nvidia Card uninstall the HD Audio driver the nvidia driver installs as it makes big issues in BF4 for some. You will find it in add and remove programs when done reboot PC 😕mileyhappy:
Another thing that may be worth trying: run a Clean Boot: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
This should ensure that no programs are interfering in the background. - 11 years ago
I played yesterday after I tried the CCleaner method, played 2 games and didn't crash yet, but that doesn't mean the problem has been fixed.
What is ''page file'' and where do I find it (and check whether it is on or off?).
I did indeed delete my Battlefield 4 folder when I fully reinstalled the game.
Will try framework and clean boot later..

Reg this... I played yesterday after I tried the CCleaner method, played 2 games and didn't crash yet, but that doesn't mean the problem has been fixed..... I agree 100% this error is a pain to fully kill and takes time I think for me I worked on it a week and lived in my event viewer fixing errors in my windows.
With page file no worries if you never turned it off it is on by default in windows but if you want to check on it see this page for info how to find it. http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001292.htm
Another thing to look at as it cant hurt is dust in PC as dust makes evil issues,. I blow out my PC's every few weeks with a can of air just kill all power to PC to do this.
If the error keeps showing up do this..Nvidia Card uninstall the HD Audio driver the nvidia driver installs as it makes big issues in BF4 for some. You will find it in add and remove programs when done reboot PC. One person I know has no issues with this sound driver by nvidia but my buddy cant have it installed and I have no idea why it gave him the BF4 stopped working crash.
Ok will try tomorrow, didn't play bf4 today so idk if it's fixed
- 11 years ago
I crashed again., but didn't yet do the things in your last post..
By the way I have to say; sometimes my sound disappeares while playing battlefield 4.. so could it then be the audio drivers?..
And here are some crashreports of today's crashes:
Are they the same? (driverrelated?)

Ya it is still the nvidia driver doing the crash 😕mileyfrustrated: What driver or drivers have you tried? I was going to update my driver today but your post makes me think mm no. Have you tried to uninstall the sound driver from video card driver install and run repair game?
Hello Zorlac,
My version of the drivers is 340.52. I haven't tried different drivers, I just uninstalled and reinstalled these.. but I doubt if installing an older version would make a difference.
I haven't yet uninstalled the audio driver. Do you mean the NVIDIA audio driver? And if I uninstall it should I reinstall it, or?
It is worth a shot to remove the NVIDIA audio driver and DO NOT put it back in. Like I said a friend of mine had done every step I gave him and nothing worked until I had him uninstall the NVIDIA audio driver. We have no idea why this gave him issues and yet my husband can use it with no issues.
When I put it in my PC to test it also gave me this error again. And after my 8 month war on my PC with this error I took it out so fast as I was scared to go back down this road 😕mileylol: But for some strange reason I had to run several repair games to get it gone for good. Another trick I have learned with repair game when it found nothing I rebooted my PC and it picked it up on second try. And one may even have to go so far as remove BF4 in my documents then repair game as the cfg could be messed up from the driver somehow but I am not 100% sure on this.
I got this error off my PC in May and now not so scared to test with it again lol like what I found with page file off but still testing on it.But so far it seems to make this error as well but it points to memory not video card driver. And I have 32GB ram and it still gave me the error when I turned page file off
As for video card driver I only install what I must and I keep all the other crap off like sound driver and gforce experance. I so don't need some silly program to do my video card settings or telling me to update my driver etc. I am very uptight about what goes on my game PC she is my baby :womanlol: I am still on the 340.43 Beta driver and have not gone to the new one yet as this beta gives me no issues since I put it in. And when I do change it yes I will do all the steps with cc cleaner I posted and use it on the registry a few times after each reboot it has to find nothing before I put in new driver. This link is my post on everything I had to do to kill this error on my PC and like I say in the post with every update..origin,patch or DLC I do have to run repair game a few times again to kill the error again. But my BF4 runs smooth as silk now.
Yes Zorlacc, I believe that using CCleaner to clean the registry is pretty much the same as deleting all the %Temp% data..
Its using CC cleaner on the cleaner area in this area it removes the temp folders / data lCHAESll. Most times I find nothing in the registry area as I run it anytime I remove programs or install programs after a reboot of my PC's and then after I run it 1x I reboot again and check registry area a second time.

In this thread on the NVIDIA forums we got the attention of a employee to look into this. It is in a thread titled about Dead Rising 3 but they are experiencing the same crash, randomly happening and can't seem to fix it.
If you are experiencing a crash related to nvwgf2umx.dll or nvwgf2um.dll please go visit that thread and add that you are experiencing the crash. Provide your basic system specs and a log from Event Viewer showing the .dll crashing. Look for the moderator to ask/request any additinoal information from users in the thread and provide that as well.
Lets get this stupid crash solved once and for all!!!!!
Do you still have this issue?
Since this is(was) such a popular thread that many participated in and is also ranked high on a google search for the driver, I thought I'd give an update. I have been on the new 344.11 drivers from NVIDIA that were released 4ish days ago. Since upgrading I have yet to experience a crash.
I got 3hrs in today(~8 rounds). 2hrs two days ago(3 rounds).
It appears promising that the new drivers resolved this .dll error problem, at least for myself and my other clan mate so far.
Sounds good!
- 11 years agoTagging this here for visibility - I followed up on the overlay issues and found that the RivaTunerStatisticsServer that comes with MSI Afterburner was causing my CTD on startup. Disabling it fixed the problem completely (I reactivated it to test, again it caused CTD). I'd suggest anyone with this issue try it!
