battlefield 4 pc game crashes

every time try to play BF4 I get as far as the map press the deploy button and it crashes and comes up with the Windows message;

"the program has stopped working correctly, blah, blah, blah . . ."

Originally I put it down to my old ASUS, Intel gaming rig running on MS Vista Ulitimate (your get the picture of age!) so last weekend I built myself a new pc from scratch with the following; Intel i7 1151 6700k Skylake, ASUS Maximus hero VIII, Crucial MX200 500GB SSD Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 DDR4, Corsair Hydro 110i GTX, XFX 850 Black Edition power supply, 2x XFX HD6950 crossfire (run out of money but plan to replace these with XFX R9 390), wrapped in a Corsair Obsidian 750D and a ASUS VG248QE 24" monitor. Hardware; "Check".

Next software; Windows 10 Pro, AMD drivers 15.2, latest software from ASUS, reloaded Origin, BF3, BF4, etc. , etc. all freshly downloaded via the inter-web.

I've tried 1 graphics card, I've searched the forums and I've spent a small fortune on a new computer and I've still got the same problem!

I've also just had a new Virgin media hub replaced with the new Virgin media Super Hub (link below to the V.M. web page for the Tech. stuff 'cause it doesn't mean much to me!)

I'm not an I.T. / software person but I can find my round a computer with the right instruction. Please can you help me find a solutions?

  • Hi @-JAKNIFE- and welcome to Answers HQ!

Can you add a dxdiag to your post? - this is how you do it:

    http://help.ea.com/au/article/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

Did you upgrade your Windows from Vista or is this a new install?

15.2 is not the latest drivers for your graphics card, you can download the latest here:

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows%2010%20-%2064

I don't know what motherboard you have in your new computer but you might want to visit the manufacturers homepage and download the latest drivers for that as well.

Dxdiag will generate a text file, you can attach the entire text file to this thread and that might help.

As for your new error, try reinstalling the Origin client and make sure it runs as administrator:

You might also want to run the Punkbuster installer found in the Battlefield 4 installation directory.

If you have any firewall / antivirus or similar running also make sure to manually whitelist / allow bf4.exe and origin.exe to run and access the internet.

  • Hello again, I followed your advise and ran the Punkbuster test and got a message to send the below info to Pb for analysis as the test failed!

    ----------------------------------
    Tests finished.

I also right-clicked the icon as show and clicked "run as administrator"

And doubled checked to ensure firewall and antivirus gave permission, which they do.

I'm hoping the Pb team can correct the failed results of the test and resolve that issue, hopefully that will be the end of it!

I'll keep you posted, thanks again for you ideas to resolve the annoying problem.

If you have any more ideas in the meantime I'd be please to try them!
