If you do a clean boot without disabling Punkbuster does it still happen?

Also, do you see any information about the crash in the Windows Event Viewer?

I did the clean boot and still got the same crash and I checked the event viewer and it acknowledged that my pc shut off unexpectedly but didn't tell me why.

Try reinstalling directx using the installer found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist

also, is GTA V and BF4 the most graphically intensive games you run? I suspect this could be a hardware issue, most likely the PSU failing or being stressed too much. You might want to run something like this to see if that causes issues as well:

@Carbonic is correct to point out a possible PSU issue. I found a thread elsewhere in which the user had your CPU and R9 270x in xFire and it was posted that the requirement was 585W which is quite close to your maximum wattage. 

That  makes sense because the one good thing about the type of crash I'm getting is that it freezes on the last frame and because I have the inbuilt fps monitor up it shows the fps between 90-70 when it crashes so it would make sense that its just power issue. Is there any steps besides buying a new psu that may help me?

I guess you could start disconnecting soundcard, harddrives, dvd drives, extra monitors, non mouse/keyboard USB hardware, extra GFX etc. and make your computer as barebone as possible to check if the PSU can handle the lowered load. However that will not test if the PSU is slowly breaking. The easiest thing is to test if you can get a hold of another PSU with more power.

I will try that but I doubt/hope its not the PSU wearing out because I only got it 2 weeks ago. 

I have an R7 200 w/ massive power supply and have had 3 crashes over the last week, when I had ZERO the previous month and half or so since I bought the game.  Saw this post and thought I would reply just in case it MIGHT be helpful.  It appears to be related to in-game activity of 64 player games when action is frenetic.

Are you guys using Mantle or not?

I use direct 3d because when I use mantle it will be running fine sometimes better than with direct 3d but then I'll keep getting random massive frame drops.

DX.  I should make clear that it seems I get similar crash, fps slowly go down and then freeze.

Can you both install and run a GPU monitoring app such as EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner to check on metrics like CPU and GPU temperature, RAM and Video memory usage as well as Pagefile usage. Those monitoring apps can be very helpful in tracking down performance issues and can uncover otherwise unseen problems.

Sorry for the long time to respond but I tried running the game with my disc drive and my second card unplugged and still go the same crash. I will try running afterburner but I dont know if it will help much because the single card setup worked fine about a month ago.

Update

I just ran the fur stress test with a single r9 270x on msi afterburner for 30 minutes with no crash an average fps of 35 and max gpu temperature of 81C then I ran BF4 crashed after 10 minutes at 80fps and 71C gpu temperature.

GPU 72 deg. 56%

MEM 1404 MB

DEC11 59.8 fps, 17ms

RAM 5505 or 5585 MB

last two crashes

RAM 16000+ MB and fps dropped to near zero, didn't see the other info...

Thanks MrSamFord, you pointed me in the right direction.  I updated the video card software with AMD / raptr Gaming Evolved and applied the optimize game feature.  BF4 is running better than ever.  The FPS are slower, but game appears stable with high quality graphics.
