Battlefield 4 randomly crashes when killed.

Battlefield 4 randomly crashes when I am killed in game and the screen transitions to the static-covered viewpoint that shows the person who killed me. I do not know of any particular circumstances that cause the error to appear, it just randomly freezes and closes with "Battlefield 4 Encountered an error and must be shut down".

I use Windows 8 and a nVidia GTX 560 Ti with the latest available drivers. If you have any suggestions on how I can make this stop happening I would appreciate it.

The main aggravating factor for me was the graphics driver. I had to roll back to the 314.11 driver in order to gain any stability, at the expense of performance and getting nagged by the game every time. nVidia have basically broken support for the GTX 560TI in more recent updates to their driver set and if the last six months are any indication it's not going to get any better in the near future.

Having recently changed to a new graphics card, I no longer get nearly as many crashes. I still get the stuttercrash and all the other fun little bugs that everyone else complains about, but stability is now at the baseline level of crappy rather than the ridiculous level I experienced in the demo.

  • Hello,

If you are playing the Battlefield 4 Beta with a Radeon or Geforce card, please make sure to install their respective Beta drivers:

    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst13-10WINBetaDriver.aspx Radeon 13.10 Beta Drivers
    http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-331-40-beta-drivers-released Geforce 331.40 Beta Drivers

You would help a lot to DICE dev team if you can post this in here  http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/view/2955064762159285271/ So later we can get pure gaming when full game is released...

    Regards, Libever

Thank you, but that is graphics driver I was already currently using. Problem still persists.

Have you tried unplugging and plugging back in your computer? Did you make sure that the ethernet cable was firmly connected to the back of your computer? Oh? We're not playing the game where we spout random generic bullsh*t to seem knowledgable for troubleshooting? The issue at hand lies solely in the coding within the game and isn't user-side; I think a few tens of thousands of other users would attest to that if presented with this. Sound drop-outs, "Leveloution"-related crashes therein making a few maps nigh unplayable, etc etc..
