I’m all for going forward, tired of history now but as you say so long as it’s not full of lock-ons and stupid tech like mech suits, jet packs etc, but I’m confident DICE will make it as realistic as possible.
The content I'm referring to was based on Battlefield 2142 which had neither jet packs or laser beams but did have mechs, hover tanks and titans which were being developed during BF4's time period. Hover tanks were already playable so if the new Battlefield were to be a direct sequel and take place 10 years after BF4, it would either have to incorporate these sci fi elements into the game and accept that it isn't a modern game at all or ignore it ever happened and accept that it isn't really a sequel to BF4.
I'm personally for the latter, I would prefer a pure modern military Battlefield game with no historic restrictions whether that be from historical fact or their own fictional history.
That being said, lasers are used in modern military and jet wings are things that exist now so to be fair, they would be more believable than the other things mentioned :P

Considering rail gun on US navy ship, guided bullets, robotic dogs, robotic stationary gun and Helmet huds with drones exist now. 10 years from the end of BF4 is around 2040 well it could be a very interesting technology.
I am interested in the superpowers who are not RUS/US. Does that mean CANUK, EU, China, India or MEC?

Yeah, I feel that when people say they want "modern warfare," they really mean they want old school 80s-90s warfare. I honestly wouldn't mind if they did use actual modern technology in the new game but I suspect it's not what a lot of people might want.
And yeah, I really do hope they have other armies other than US vs the commies again, especially if they plan on having the level of customisation that Battlefield 5 had. I really liked having separate loadouts per faction.
