I'm hoping all the focus stays on next gen. I understand why they would develop for last gen because many still can't get the latest consoles but full resources on next gen i'd prefer. - OskooI_0075 years agoSeasoned Ace
The rumor is interesting, but I personally don't believe it. EA won't ignore their largest customer base on last gen consoles.
It seems more likely EA will lower the frame rate and player count on last gen consoles.
I speculate DICE LA is creating a separate free-to-play Battle Royale build which will have dumbed down graphics and lower system requirements compared to the $60 base game DICE Stockholm is creating.
At least that's what I would do. Lower the free-to-play Battle Royale system requirements so 100+ player matches are possible on last-gen consoles and low spec PCs.
Meanwhile, the $60 base game can have higher system requirements and smaller game modes for last-gen consoles.

I'm pretty sure EA will build a version for last gen so they don't lose out on players, but I see it being heavily stripped down because the last gen consoles are nothing close to the latest in terms of spec, and if DICE are utilizing all that hardware then it's gonna be too much for last gen.
If they did have to heavily strip the game down then they would have to ask themselves, is it actually worth releasing a last gen? Because they could potentially be missing out on a lot, not to mention how would the game play out if last and next gen are playing together. Something to think about for sure.
