BF 1 studdering HDD 5400 ?

Hello guys,
I ve bought a new PC specs

Ryzen 1300x
Nvidia 1060ti 3Gb
8gb DDR 4 2666mhz

2 HDD
⚽ C: only 5400rpm SATA 2 where is Windows 10 pro instaled (Legit ) (1tb)
🏈 D: 7200rpm SATA 3 where i have installed Battlefield 1 (1tb)

When i heard that HDD is reading something that scrathing noise i get studdering in game.  ( FPS drops from 60 to 28 etc.)

Another funny thing is that even thought i ve instaled game on HDD 🏈. I ve got usage from HDD ⚽ 100% when i am playing the game. Even thought it is instaled on different HDD.

What i should do ? Should i ve instaled Windows on disk 🏈. Will it have impact on performance ?

Is 5400RPM bottleneck in gaming with my PC?

I am really shocked that i ve got more usage from HDD where the game is not instaled like from the other HDD where the game is instaled? Does it have to go via/from System disk when i am playing ?

Also when i have installed TitanFall 2 on HDD ⚽. I ve had hdd usage 100% almost at all time and i think it also harm my performance.

btw i am using avast antivirus free edition

Thank you for your answers.

  • Hey @krowkaSvK,

thanks for sharing your experience there. I personally would install the OS to the SSD if available or in this case, the faster drive. The games I play more often would go on the faster HDD and the stuff I rarely need on the slower one. If things change, you can always adjust your disk usage and swap files.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the game!

  • Okay guys.

So i ve reinstall win 10 on 7200rpm HDD with all games origin programs etc.

And performance is really smooth now it help me very much. So just do not use 5400rpm hdd for today s apps or even better do not buy it by mistake as i did. :D
