Indeed for me Rivatuner was the problem apparently.
I run it only for FPS measurement but still there must have been a conflict.
To anyone with the same issue, close Rivatuner or MSI afterburner and try again.
I'm also having the same issue. I tried everything and now i see that all the ones with the trial like me are having the same issue. I lost two hours yesterday trying to play. I will contact my credit card company and dispute the charge if you guys don't fix this or make it right for us. We spent our money on this and most likely like EA always does you will say that there is nothing you can do about it.... I have the game i have not open the game because I wanted to try it before opening the game but I will go and return it if this is not fix. I already got burned by Hardline and battlefront.. I will not get burn a third time.

Same problem here on the trial. Can't be arsed to spend more money (got EA Access only to test drive BF1) on the retail version only on guesswork if that fixes the inablilty to play the multiplayer part of the game. I don't mind the 4€ I spent, but I am very reluctant to spend a single cent more on products that are having such issues.
I loved battefield back in the days (1942 veteran here), but after skipping bf3 and up, willing to return, this is just a desaster. First DirectX crashes I needed to investigate and (hopefully fix!), then this crash and so many reports on lags, flickering and so on. I thought about buying the game for PS4, but they do have their own problems, so it's more likely game-related and not platform-related.
Such a shame, liked the campaign very much, got right back at the battlefield (bad company) feeling!
And yeah: safe boot, all ports forwarded, I did a clean Windows 10 Anniversary Update install on my rig, completely recent drivers for everything. Deleted settings and repaired, no luck.
