BF1 performance issues

Hello guys,

Let me begin with my setup:

Windows 10 Home with latest update done.
i3 8350k @ 4,5Ghz
Asus Z370P mobo
8GB 2133mhz
Gtx 1060 6gb OC'ed to 1942Mhz with the latest driver.
Corsair RM650x Psu

I've tried the search button but didn't really find anything, sorry if I missed something.

I'm having some issues on BF1 where my fps drops to the low 50s.
I really can't get a stable fps above 65.
I have mixed settings of ultra and low.
AA is on FXAA high and Ambient occlusion is on HBAO.

However changing the graphics settings barely makes a difference. Even on all ultra and all low i get around the same fps.
Dx12 is off (on makes no noticable difference )
My resolution scale is set to 100%.

I've noticed that all 4 cores are at 100% Usage. My GPU is at around 60%.
Also noticed via the ingame console that its only using 3 threads.

CPU temp is around 68 degrees, max 72 on full load
And GPU temp around 73-74 at full load.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

  • Sounds like the CPU is bottlenecking a bit. So you can both bring down its temperature (add fans, improve airflow or upgrade cooler) and maybe give it a light overklock if it proved not to be enuigh. And or reduce all background application to zero and run windows in performance settings (Windows Aero off). Also you could test with XMP off and on for memory profile in BIOS. Under 60FPS i would also disable V-sync.

I expect you have: a recent Windows installation that is up-to-date. you have the latest chipset software, GPU and LAN drivers installed, you also have no virus scanner running 24/7 and have cleaned both HDD/SSD of unwanted files (degragged or TRIMéd). Latest firmware for SSD and latest BIOS. have cleaned the windows registry and run adware cleaner once in a while, All to assist you make the most out of you're system.

  • Hey @xlGuardiaN24 Your CPU is below Minimum Requirements by a lot, I recommend to lower the graphics setting in the game and reduce the amount of programs you have running in the background that is using CPU power.

    Minimum Requirements

    OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
    Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
Processor (Intel): Intel Core i5 6600K
    Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 660 2GB
DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
    Hard-drive space: 50GB

Hi Larsiano. Thank you for your response. And sorry for my late reply.

I already OCed it from the default 4ghz to 4.5ghz.

I've tried literally everything you said and some more.

After a clean driver install (2nd time) it magically got a huge performance boost. I'm now sitting in the high 90's fps wise.

    However still at 100%.

Will be upgrading my CPU for BF5 though.

    Thank you.

    Hi Atic,

    Thanks for your reply.

However my CPU is above the minimum requirements, your minimum requirements state a 4core i5 6600k which has a turboclock of 3.9Ghz.

My 4core i3 8350k is clocked at 4.5ghz on all cores, which is quite a bit faster than the minimum specs.

I will however upgrade my CPU to one with more cores in the near feature, just to be safe.

    Thank you.
